Owners receive MWIS statutory notices
Owners appoint Qualified Person(1) (QP) to carry

QP submits Form MWI 1(2) to notify the Building Authority (BA)
of his appointment for inspection, and personally carries out the
inspection
The QP who carried out the inspection notifies the BA with Form
MWI 2(2) of completion of inspection
and submits inspection report
(including the repair proposal) to the BA
Owners appoint another QP for supervision of repair
The QP appointed for supervision of repair submits Form
to notify the BA
of his appointment for supervision of repair

Owners appoint registered contractor(5) to carry out the necessary
repair under the supervision of the QP
(2) The relevant specified forms and the samples of the completed specified forms are available for viewing on the BD’s website

(3) The QP appointed for prescribed inspection may be the same as or different from the QP for supervision of prescribed repair.
(4) The standard and requirement of inspection and repair is specified in the Code of Practice for Mandatory Building and Window Inspection
The QP appointed for supervision of repair notifies the BA with
Form MWI 4(2)
of completion of the necessary repair
Schemes issued by the Buildings Department, which is available for viewing on the above BD’s website.
(5) If the QP appointed for prescribed inspection or supervision of prescribed repair is a registered general building contractor or registered minor
works contractor (RMWC) in respect of windows, he may also act as the contractor to carry out the prescribed repair. However, the RMWC can
only carry out those class, type and item of minor works under which he is registered.
