Memo ADM 16/14 [See ADM Memo 1-15] UNIVERSAL CREDIT – FURTHER EXTENSION OF RELEVANT DISTRICTS Contents Paragraphs Introduction 1 Extension of relevant districts 2–5 Annotations Contacts Appendix INTRODUCTION 1 This memo gives guidance on further additions to the relevant districts made by the Welfare Reform Act 2102 (Commencement No. 19 and Transitional and Transitory Provisions and Commencement No. 9 and Transitional and Transitory Provisions 1 (Amendment)) Order 2014 . 1 SI 2014 No. 2321; WR Act 12 (Commencement No. 19 etc) Order EXTENSION OF RELEVANT DISTRICTS 2 ADM M3021 explains that one of the conditions for claiming UC is that the person must live in the postcode districts listed in the Appendix to ADM Chapter M3 (Gateway 1 2 conditions – claims for UC from 16.6.14) . These are known as relevant districts . 1 WR Act 12 (Commencement No. 9 etc) Order, art 3 & 4; 2 art 2(1) & Sch 1 3 Starting from 15.9.14, the relevant districts are extended over a 14 week period to include the postcodes in the Appendix to this memo (the No. 14 - 27 relevant 1 districts) . These are postcodes in North West England. 1 WR Act 12 (Commencement No. 19) etc Order, art 2(1), 3 & 4 & Sch 4 The guidance in ADM Chapters M3, M4 (Gateway conditions – effects of transition to UC from 16.6.14), S8 (JSA Transition) and V8 (ESA Transition) applies to UC claimants who live in the No. 14 - 27 relevant districts from the appropriate date as in the Appendix. 5 The guidance on exceptions to the requirement to live in a relevant district for some UC claimants continues to apply (see ADM M3022 – M3026).
