Due to an opening in our Victorian Retail Underwriting team, we are looking for an Underwriting Consultant to support New Business growth and the acquisition of new accounts through key relationship management and the promotion of our underwriting philosophy, and in placing profitable business on the books within agreed service standards. This is an exciting role within AIA which will provide the opportunity for you to combine your Senior Underwriting experience, strong client focused solution capability and solid presentation skills. Reporting to the State Underwriting Manager, your key accountabilities will be: New business growth ‐ Active support in the acquisition of new underwriting accounts and the retention of key advisers. Promotion of AIA underwriting excellence – Improve communication, stakeholder engagement and awareness of underwriting philosophy and capability Competitive positioning – Active involvement of AIAA competitive positioning and benchmarking and contributing to the formulation and development of the underwriting philosophy, practice and procedures. Dealership / adviser education – Active involvement in Dealership Professional Development presentations / workshops. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following: A minimum of 15 years underwriting experience. Highly motivated and proactive with a proven ability to work autonomously. Highly advanced medical knowledge. A financial Underwriting expert. Proven ability to develop and grow business. An outstanding track record of maintaining and building quality business relationships with advisers and dealer groups. Fully proficient in presentation delivery. Strong understanding of underwriting philosophy, practice and guidelines. Extensive understanding of competitors, products, philosophy and practice. Ability to coach and mentor. Established relationships with reassurers. Extensive knowledge of regulatory, legislative and technical issues within the industry. AIA Product knowledge. Underwriting systems knowledge.
