Prior to this appointment, she headed the division that formulated regulatory policies to combat money laundering, proliferation and terrorism financing. Valerie also led the Secretariat managing MAS’ participation in the Financial Sector Assessment Programme (FSAP) of the IMF. She started her career in the MAS as a negotiator of FTAs, and was involved in the FTAs with Japan, India and China, amongst others. Before joining the MAS, Valerie was the Business Editor of Channel News Asia.
