This year, news reports on legal age for smoking were highlighted during the campaign period. Raising the legal age for smoking in Singapore was discussed last year and SATA CommHealth CEO Dr K Thomas Abraham exhorted that in order to reduce the number of smokers by 2020, bold measures will be necessary to effect the change. Dr Abraham said that the increase in young smokers in Singapore was the main problem which the nation would be facing in the future. SATA CommHealth is playing an advocacy role, while it continues to inform and educate smokers as well as non-smokers on the ill-effects of smoking.
