I Year Inaugural
8th August:
The I year students were given warm welcome jointly by AVS College of Engineering and
AVS College of Technology. On the dais was our honorable Chairman Thiru. K. Kailasam, Secretary
Thiru. K. Rajavinayakam, Correspondent Thiru. K. Senthil Kumar, our respectable Principal Dr. M. Vinoth
Kumar, respected Principal of AVS College of Engineering Dr. G. Tholkappaia Arasu, Mr.Jayaprakash A.
Gandhi, the career consultant and Analyst for AVS and Sakthikailash group of Institutions, Pro. G.
Geoffrey Davidson, director training, honorable chief guest from most famous companies, faculty members,
non-teaching staffs, I year students with their parents took part in the inaugural function. For motivation the I
year students were given scholarships in the function.

Friendship day Celebration
2nd August: Friendship day was celebrated very grandly in our college. The function was organized in
the auditorium hall. As a mark of celebration cakes were cut by various departments and distributed to all.
Colorful cultural programs also were organized by our 1st and 2nd year students. Students and faculty
members along with our honorable Secretary Sir by heart of heart expressed their unity as good friends.
Siruthuli
Our charity foundation is Siruthuli. Little droplets when combined together in a huge amount can
make a ocean, likewise our college has just split its first drop on the eve of friendship day. This is already
successfully running in our other institutions of AVS & Sakthikailash groups. It is to encourage the attitude
of charity and helping tendency of our students. They are to contribute a minimum amount voluntarily to
support Siruthuli. This time an orphanage home in Kollapatti called Anbalayam was invited. Here more
than eighty school and college going students are being brought up. Our students gave their contributions
to the boys of this orphanage.

CSE Department Inaugural
14th August:
As starting of the ceremony first and foremost thing is lightening the
kuthuvilaku by our chief guest and preceded by our Principal, Vice principal, HoD and
Student Secretary. The Student Secretary M.A.TamilSelvan, (II/CSE) Proposed the
welcome address by welcoming all the dignities of the function. The HoD Mr.M.Saravanan,
M.E., gave an introduction about our college and department facilities. He also listed the
various activities of our department.
Chief guest Er. N. Rajasekaran B.E., project leader, Cognizant Technology Solutions,
Coimbatore gave the special address to our students. The Principal Dr. M. Vinoth Kumar,
M.E., Ph.D delivered the inaugural address. He insisted on HUB-connecting Minds. He
advises us to take initiation in all the activities in and out of the department. Our Vice
Principal Dr. D. Vijay Devanesan, M.A., M.Phil. B.Ed., Ph.D presides over the function.
He gave motivation to the students by a small story that self confidence should be build in
every student from his first year itself.
The department of Computer science and Engineering organized the C-circle activity
called the C-Concepts in our college for the second year students of CSE. The contest was
held in our college computer centre -1. More than fifteen students from CSE department.
The program was organised by the faculty member of the concern departments in a joint
venture and lead by the respective head of the departments. At the end of the event prizes
were announced. As a mark of appreciation prizes were distributed to the winners by the
HOD, Principal and Vice Principal. This gave a new type of encouragement to the students
for their future activities.

Independence Day celebration
15th August: The Independence day was celebrated very attractively in our college. The
NSS students gave their hand in cleaning and making arrangement for the place of
celebration. An outline map of India was designed on the floor and more than two hundred
students were made to stand to the shape of the map and also for the college name. It was
very attractive and much more a creative aspect.
On the eve of Independence Day celebrations association wise competitions were
conducted for all students. Department of Chemistry was responsible for conducting Tamil
Oratorical and the winners were Ms. P. Kithira I year Sec-C got 1st prize, Ms. M
Vinothini II CSE got the 2nd and Ms. M. Pavithra bagged the 3rd prize.
The Department of English was responsible for conducting English Oratorical and
the winners were Mr. K. Vivek of II Civil received the 1st , Mr. Akshay Vinay of I
Mech got the 2nd and the 3rd went to Ms. S. Kiruthika of II ECE.
Other competition was Drawing and the winners were Mr. P. Manikandan of I
ECE won the 1st prize, Mr. M. Haridass of II Mech-A bagged the 2nd and Mr. S. R.
Sarun got the 3rd.
The next was Rangoli, the girls of our college actively participated in the event with
much of interest and enthusiasm. The college corridor was filled with multiple colours.
They were encouraged by giving prizes of appreciations the 1st prize was taken over by
Ms. P. Gunasundari and Ms. Syed Ali Fathima of I ECE, the 2nd was won by Ms. Uma
Maheshwari and Ms. Jothi of II ECE, finally the 3rd went to Ms. Narmatha and Ms.
Kristy of II Civil.

NSS Activity
13th August: Campus cleaning process on the
eve of Independence Day celebration was
organized by NSS team members. Nearly
sixty volunteers enthusiastically participated
in the process and gave their utmost effort to
run the process.
Blood Donation Camp
14th August: A Blood donation camp was organized by our NSS team, the camp was
conducted by KSM Blood Bank group, Salem. This held at our college girl student’s
common hall. More than fifty volunteers gave their contribution to make the program a
successful one. The donors were given with their blood reports and also appreciation
certificates.

TEK CLUSTER of ECE
17th August:
Our students of Electronics and Communication Engineering participated
in the inter-college competitions held at Kongunadu College of Engineering and
Technology, Trichy. Various contests were planned by the college, Biochip-life on a chip,
A Reliable cost effective sand monitoring system on FPGA. Our students actively took part
in all the events and were awarded second prize. The award winners are M. Shabnam Banu,
II ECE, K. Thilagavathi, P. Koteeswaran II ECE and M. Ajith Kumar.
PREDATRONS’14
In the department of ECE students eagerly took part in the national level technical
symposium at Annai Mathammal Sheela Engineering, Namakkal. Our II ECE students K.
Thilagavathi, M. Shabnam Banu and M.S Fathima Bevi participated in the events and they
were awarded with certificates.
Mechanical Department Inaugural
18th August:
The Mechanical department of our college was inaugurated by Er. P. Anand
B.E., Mettur Thermal Power station-I, he was the chief guest of the day. Since he is of
the same department he shared his own experience and ideas of how to become a successful
professional. The function was organized at the conference hall of our college. Along with
him our college honorable Principal Dr. M.Vinothkumar, our respected Vice Principal
Dr. D Vijay Devanesan joint the occasion to make it grander event. Our Department head
Mr. S. Mohanasundram and other faculty members of the department, students of both the
years made the inaugural a fabulous beginning.

Mechanissm
25th August: Our students participated in the inter college symposium and gave paper
presentations on their respected department. Ms. S Gomathi of II Mech-A, Mr. K.
Prabhu of II Mech-A took part in the event held at SSM Institute of Technology and won
certificates.
TECHUTSAU’14
Thiyagarajar Engineering College organized a symposium I which our
Mechanical department students Mr. A. Anbumani of II Mech-A, Mr. S. Mohanraj of II
Mech-A actively participated and won certificates. They gave their paper presentations
which was appreciated as well performed.
Group Activities in Chemistry
15th July:
Without Polymer in Daily life was the topic o which group discussions were
arranged class wise. The events took place in the respective class rooms of the 1st year. The
main aim of the event was to bring awareness about some common ideas on Polymer and its
uses in day-today life. Almost all the I year students participated and gave their great
responds, this also gave the faculty members of the department a great interest to plan in for
more such fruitful activities in future.
Quiz & CADD Contest
5th August:
The department of Civil organized inter-departmental events. For the II year
students of the department quiz and CADD was organized. Students actively took part in
the event. The team led by Mr. R. Kalaiselvan with Mr.K.G Muthukumaran and Mr. K.
Ranjith won the first prize. Second prize was won by Mr. A. Sathishkumar along with
Mr. S. Sathish Kumar and Mr. M. Sathish Kumar. This gave the students a very good
enthusiasm and attraction towards the subject.

Care study about Building Collapse
II year students gave a paper presentation about building collapse at Porur. It
was a care study about building collapse. The event took place in the seminar hall of our
college. Mr. E. Balusamy, Mr. D. Deepanraj, Mr. C. Mohanraj and Mr. G. Sathish Kumar
English Language and Literary Association
11th August:
English department of our college organized EL Quiz 006 for all the students.
The association’s main aim and purpose is to make English a user friendly language among
our students and in our entire campus too. Class wise and year wise activities were
conducted and every week the winners will be announced and appreciated by giving prizes.
The quiz program was conducted in four different levels and the winner was Mr. S. Srinath
of I Mech won the prize.
