The Council has never
achieved its potential
SNP COUNCILLORS AND CANDIDATES - CAMPAIGNING FOR A BETT
Your SNP Candid
O
ver the last 4 months the SNP
has been out and about in
communities throughout South
Ayrshire surveying what local people
think about their services. With more
than 1500 individual responses we
know more about what residents like
about the Council, what you dislike
and what you want to alter.
The survey reinforced what we already
thought – education is good and improving,
recycling is effective, people hate dog fouling
and litter, the roads are dreadful, we need
to regenerate our Town Centres and people
want us to be better at communicating and
listening. We have lots of other ideas and
suggestions that we are working on.
One survey hit home which resonates
with our thinking. At present the Council
has “no ambition”, “few attempts have
been made to market South Ayrshire
further afield” and “no investment in the
good years”.
South Ayrshire has more than 112,000
residents, this is the birthplace of Burns,
with a magnificent coastline and sailing
opportunities, fantastic education, a first
class racecourse, an airport, some of the
world’s best golf courses, the list goes on
and on. Under the Tories and Labour, the
Council has never achieved its potential. The
SNP can and will make a difference
Since 2007 your SNP team has been a
catalyst for solving problems in a different
way. Some steps have been taken, but this
election is a real opportunity for the SNP to
take the Council forward.
NAN McFARLANE
SNP GROUP LEADER
The Council approved an SNP
proposal to introduce a living
wage for South Ayrshire Council
employees, negotiations with the
Unions are well underway on a new
wage structure. When agreed it will
mean an increase of up to £1.00 per
hour for our lowest paid Staff.

NAN was elected in 2007
and leads the SNP group.
“The SNP have driven
through much needed
improvements
in
the
Council and have gained
the respect and credibility
from the public to take the
next step forward.”
DOUGLAS has 25 years
experience as a local
Councillor.
“South
Ayrshire can deliver much,
much more for our local
communities. The Council
needs to support and foster
the ambition that has lain
dormant for so many years.
I believe this is the key task
for the Council over the
next 5 years.”
Elaine McBean Little
“I continue to learn from
listening to the Community.
Our young people deserve
to have a good education
and job opportunities.
South Ayrshire has a
wealth of young talent
which we must continue to
encourage and nurture as
a priority. Life is a journey
navigated
easily
with
confidence.”
Tom Slider
TOM has represented his
local community since
2007. “I am proud that I am
from Ayr and have great
pride in South Ayrshire, I

vision that can reinvigorate
all our communities.”
