Anis-Abi Karam, Ph.D. Biography FAMILY: I am married to my wife, Diane (originally from Massachusetts), and I have two children, Tarik (39) and Dunya (36). CAREER PATH: Graduated from United States International University with a doctorate in Psychology in 1977. After graduation I worked for psychiatric hospitals in the Los Angeles area. Moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1979 and opened a private practice providing consulting/management training/services for large corporations. In 1989 I established Human Behavior Institute (HBI) the largest free-standing behavioral health organization in the State of Nevada. HBI provides mental health services for the community and consulting services for local, city, state, and federal entities. In addition to providing the above mentioned services, HBI also delivers network, credentialing, and utilization management solutions for large insurance companies. I am very much still active in my profession and, for the foreseeable future, have no intention of retiring. In fact, in response to the new health care law, I am currently in the process of expanding HBI. HBI is a driving force in our community, and we are working hard to support and maintain the mental health and well-being of our community.
