. But the major problem is that, there
is also a huge gap between what is
taught in the University curriculum and
what is expected in the industryThis
process is initiated in the early semesters
of their core programs thereby amalgamating it with their standard curricula.
Dr Sarojini Agarwal, Chairperson,
NIET, congratulated the students for
achieving a major milestone in their
lives and guided them about being
strong for the future challenges, NIET
believes that campus placement is a
golden opportunity for companies to
find that one diamond in the rough,
Pyramid Finishing School of NIET
caters to this issue, where students are
trained according to the industry
requirements giving individual student a
360 degree improvement, not only in the
areas like soft skills, life skills, technical
skills and etiquettes but also exposing
the students to time management, teamwork and project management.
Speaking on this Dr O P Agarwal,
Managing Director, NIET. “Our efforts
have shown results. One of the largest
independent Information Technology
distributors in Southern Africa, Sahara
Computers has recruited 4 students from
NIET offering a package of INR 10 lac
p.a. This is also the highest salary
offered to any of our students till date.
The offer is a milestone for the institute.
We already had an office in Dubai for
managing placements but now, we have
been able to show our caliber in South
Africa as well”.
Mr. Raman Batra, Director – CMC,
PFS & NBS adds “The placement team
meets in person with HR Heads of target
companies in order to understand the
specific skill and competency set they
look forward to having in their new
recruits in coming days. We prepare specific curriculum for enhancing the skill
and competency set of the students. We
draw definite time table and identify inhouse/ external trainers to impart these
skills to our students. We conduct regu-
lar workshops, group discussions. Mock
tests, role plays to ensure that students
are imbibing what was being taught to
them. In this manner, students are
trained as per the specific requirements
of the organizations and their campus
recruitment drives. We made and executed specific curriculums of
Networking to serve HCL Technologies,
Telecommunications for Ericsson,
Financial tools and Banking for ING
Vysya Bank, Automation for PARI, etc.”
Moreover, the Institute has organized
many HR Conclaves to discuss on the
future trends and nurture the leaders for
tomorrow. Further enhancing their relationship with Industry, it has also made
tie-ups with MNCs like Microsoft,
Oracle, KPMG, ICICI Direct and
Prometric. These tie-ups not only promises to enhance student employability by
manifold, but also takes the lead in
encouraging ‘innovative’ learning like
never before. This has resulted in NIET
achieving the award for Most
Employable students in the region.
“Our objective all this while was to
provide trained manpower to the companies who can start contributing for the
organization much early than before.
Our meticulous approach was well
received by various industries and it
helped us serve them better” says Dr
Ajay Kumar, Director, NIET.
“We wish all the placed students, all
the best for their future and hope they
will reach zenith in their respective
areas,” adds Dr Agarwal.
