BSN Program
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
is designed for the student who is not a registered nurse
and wants to earn an undergraduate degree in nursing.
The first two years of your undergraduate education are
spent obtaining non-nursing prerequisite courses at a
college or university of your choice.
The BSN program offered at the Lubbock campus is
completed in four semesters (24 months), or 63 hours.
The BSN program offered at the Abilene and Odessa
campuses is completed in four semesters (16 months),
or 63 hours. Courses are taught in a classroom setting.
Clinical skills are learned in multiple health care settings

General Education Prerequisites
CURRENT DEGREE PLAN
General education course requirements are listed below. These
courses must be completed before beginning the program.
Each of the pre-nursing course requirements should be
completed with a grade of "C" or better. Courses can be taken
at any accredited community college or institution of higher
education that provides comparable courses. There is no
time limit for acceptance of prerequisite courses completed in
previous years. A maximum of 15 credit hours can be earned via
credit by examination.

Application requirements
Applications for admissions to the BSN program may be
accessed at www.ttuhsc.edu/son/undergrad/bsn.aspx from
December 15 - February 1 for fall admission. Completion
of the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) - (Offered by
Assessment Technologies, Inc.), at a proficient level or higher is
required. Applicants are required to participate in an interview
process. Applicants must submit appropriate documentation,
i.e. TOEFL score, if an international student. Military service
documentation must be submitted if applicable. Applicants are
reviewed in an individual and holistic manner. No single factor
determines admission.
Academic Criteria
• At
time of application submission, 40 credit hours must be
completed of the required non-nursing prerequisite courses,
including at least three of the four lab sciences, not including
nutrition.
• A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for all grades earned at all
schools attended.
• Students receiving a bachelor’s degree from TTUHSC must
meet the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s general
education core curriculum. Detailed information can be found
