Approval of the panel of Examiners and Board of Examiners for MVA Courses Examinations for the academic year 2014-15 (PG). The committee scrutinized, updated the list and approved the Panel of Examiners for PG courses in Visual Arts for the academic year 2014-15. 2. 6 years MVA Integrated Course. Committee recommends admitting the students for 6 years MVA Integrated course from the academic year 2014-15 if, the basic necessary facilities and infrastructure like Class Rooms, Desk, Chairs & Tables, Water and Electrification is ready to run the courses smoothly. Services of the Guest faculty to be utilized till the permanent recruitments are made. 3. Choice Based Credit System: The Committee welcomed the scheme of Choice Based Credit System and recommended to adopt the scheme prepared for MVA courses from the coming academic year. 4. Recruitment of Permanent Teaching Faculty in the Dept. of Visual Arts. The Department of Visual Arts established in 2004 and it is really surprising that the department is running with one permanent Faculty and totally depending on the services of guest faculty. It is time that the University must seriously consider recruitment of permanent teachers to run various courses under MVA discipline. 5. Admission Procedure for MVA Courses. The Visual Arts (Fine Arts) is majorly 80% practical oriented course. – (Painting, Sculpture, Print-making and Applied Arts and Design subjects) Hence it should be mandatory to have student’s aptitude test and weightage must be given to the same, based on practical and viva-voce & interview as was in practice at Bangalore University, prior to the centralized admissions. It is important to re-instate this method, which is followed by all the important Universities and Institutions offering Visual Arts. It is to be noted, that all the Art and Design Institutes of major Universities like M.S. University; Baroda, Santiniketan, Kolkatta, Delhi University; Central University; - Hyderabad, Benaras Hindu Univ; Jamia Milia Islamia University; Chennai Art colleges, CAVA – Mysore, including Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat which is affiliated to Bangalore University; follows the same admission procedure as stated above. Resolution It is discussed and resolved unanimously to re-instate the Admission procedure followed earlier by the Bangalore University and as followed by the other Universities of the country for the specialized practical subjects like Visual Arts. The selection committee will conduct the aptitude tests. 6. Proposal to re-constitute the Expert Advisory Committee in Visual Arts. Resolution The committee discussed the importance of the role of the Expert Advisory committee played in building the new Department and resolved and prepared the list of expert’s names to be forwarded to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor for reconstitution of the Expert Advisory committee. 7. Proposal to make comprehensive list of external examiners. Resolution The committee discussed and made a comprehensive list by adding new experts/examiners in addition to the existing list of members. It also recommends the list of experts drawn from the leading institutions and professionals/Artists as it is in practice with other leading Universities/Institutions of Visual Arts. 8. New Building: Request the University to facilitate the Department in the new building with basic amenities to run the Visual Arts Courses. The committee scrutinized, updated the list and approved the Panel of Examiners for UG courses (BVA) for the academic year 2014-15. 2. BVA/ Hons. Programme: BVA UG courses in Painting, Sculpture, Graphic Arts, Applied Art, and Art History courses Which are 4 years in nature like all over India UGC recognized BVA courses it is not compatible to be adopted under hons. Programme. Hence the programme is not suitable for Visual Arts. Where as BVA traditional sculpture & temple architecture can come under this pattern where in 10 + 2 + 3. That is 2 years foundation and 3 years degree. So it may be adopted and is recommended if the colleges wish to start the BVA/Hons programme in Traditional Sculpture & Temple Architecture. Some of the prestigious Institutions in Bangalore have sent the proposal to start the above (UG) Bachelor of Visual Art courses from the year 2015. The committee recommends, after considering the importance and relevance of the proposed courses which are in demand and has good employment prospects. Hence it is recommended for starting the UG courses- Bachelor of Visual Arts in all the above specializations. The Syllabus for some of the new disciplines under BVA is under preparation. Chairman
