The Nippon Carbide Industries Group makes

know-how it has accumulated over its long years of

In 1935, the year of this company’s founding, Acetylene derivative production
using Carbide as a raw material was a promising new chemical industry, and
this company was a pioneer in this field. With the growth of the chemical
industry since then, the chief new areas have changed, and our company has
accordingly expanded the scope of its operations, creating a wide variety of
products. Developing our core technologies for calcination, organic synthesis,
resin polymerization, polymer synthesis, and films/sheeting, we have
continually created products that have met the demands of society. Presently
our business operations cover chemicals, specialty polymers, films, retroreflective
sheeting, and electronic materials etc. In order to achieve further growth, we take up

Chemical products are the basic raw materials
which are the musts for the latest technologies in a
variety of fields. The chemical business of Nippon
Carbide Industries has evolved from manufacture
of commodities like Calcium Carbide and Calcium
Cyanamide to manufacture of specialty chemicals
such as pharmaceutical and agrochemicals,
materials for electronics, and is even expanding
further to manufacture of active pharmaceutical
ingredients. We are proudly supporting the
solutions of customers with our knowledge,
experience and know-how of chemical products
manufacturing which have been accumulated over
a long years.
For instance, Cyanamide derivatives and Hydrazine
derivatives are used as raw materials for
pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and cosmetics,
and as additives for semiconductor photoresists
and gas generating agents for automobile air bags.
Further, Vinylether made from Acetylene is used as
a copolymerization monomer for fluoro-resins,
light-cured resins, and additive for semiconductor
photoresists.

Chemical Products
Melamine resins are molding materials that have
outstanding lightness, strength, heat-resistance,
and colorability, and thus are used in a wide
variety of plastic products. Melamine compounds
in powder and granule form are used as the raw
material of plateware in schools, hospitals, and
company cafeterias, where the above properties
are greatly appreciated. Melamine resins are also
widely used as cleaning material to clean metal
molds for epoxy sealing. This cleaning property
and also its outstanding usability (cleaning can be
done in the same manufacturing step as the
molding, without removing the metal molds) make
it an indispensable substance in the
semiconductor industry. We also have a line of
cleaning products whose main ingredient is
synthetic rubber.

Ceramics
Our high polymer synthesis technology and resin
polymerization technology deliver a wide variety
of functional resins. A leading example of this is
our adhesives. They are used in a wide range of
applications, from general labels to medical uses,
optical applications and electronic equipment,
coating materials for paper, film, and metal, fiber
processing, pigments and laser printers.
Also, toner resins used in copy machines etc. are
one of our main products. Our functional resins
are also used in optical applications, such as
polarizing plates, touch panels, glass paste, and
electrically conductive paste. We cover a wide
range of variations of adhesive agents.

Motorcycles and motorbikes are indispensable to
the daily lives of many people in Southeast Asia
and around the world as their means of
commuting to work and a source of recreation.
Color variations of vehicles’ bodies are different
according to the culture of each country and
individual preferences.
We provide weather-proof graphic printed sheets
to be applied onto motorcycle bodies at the time
of their manufacture. We have established
manufacturing plants in Thailand, Vietnam,
Indonesia, and India for these products,
developing this business primarily in Asia. We
supply such printed products not only for
motorcycles but also for a wide range of other
items including passenger cars, pickup trucks,
construction vehicles such as large wheel loaders,

These are decorative color vinyl chloride films
used for signs etc., noted for their various colors
and outstanding weather resistance. Colored
transparent and translucent films used on internally
lighted signs etc. exhibit vivid colors and shapes
that stand out when a light source is behind them,
night or day. We also manufacture films with
characteristics suited to specific applications and
purposes, such as fluorine films with "super
weather resistance" (which means they have heat
resistance, contamination resistance, chemical

In the network of roads extending around the
global, retroreflective sheets used on road signs
and vehicle reflectors play an active role in
maintaining safety and order.
Road signs made with our retroreflective sheeting
make words and symbols stand out brightly and
clearly day or night, over long periods of time in
areas of cold or hot climate. To meet the needs of
our customers, we offer various grades of sheeting
products from Enclosed Lens Type, Encapsulated
Lens Type to Super High Intensity Prismatic Type.
We provide various types of alumina ceramic
s u b s t r a t e s a n d t h i c k fi l m p r i n t e d c e r a m i c
substrates with excellent technologies and
qualities.
Besides, with excellent heat resistance and heat
radiation, our ceramic substrates are also applied
to various LED package, hybrid-IC, and other

Nippon Carbide Industries’ R&D activities are planned to expand our operations from materials
to high added value areas. In this process, we aim to keep our emphasis on our core
businesses and core technologies, carefully selecting R&D themes that allow quick
commercialization. For instance, we are aggressively developing new products for IT and
environmental protection which integrate our technologies for films/sheets, for resin
polymerization, and for firing.
Vinyframe Industry Co., Ltd., a member of our Group, is
carrying out the manufacture and sale of aluminum
construction materials such as car ports and hand rails for
residences and office buildings, and of resin extrusion
molded products. These construction materials, that have
refined designs and good quality supported by high level
technology, help customers lead pleasant daily lives. The
company also is developing manufacturing operations for
waterproofing materials for solar panels and resin fixtures for
LED lighting. Vinyframe is contributing to society through the
development of environmentally friendly products.

Diamond Engineering Co., Ltd. another member of our
Group, designs and constructs steel making plants,chemical
plants and environmental facilities. Utilizing steel refining and
powder handling technology that it has nurtured over a
period of many years, it is expanding its operations into a
variety of new industrial fields. In particular, it is applying its
continuous injection technology to blow pulverized coal into
a gasification furnace that is part of an integrated coal
gasification combined cycle. This technology is contributing
to realizing a brighter future.
In addition, it constructs and maintains various types of
recycling facilities that advantageously process waste water,
gas exhaust, large discarded items, and biomass.
