John Paul Ii Catholic School Everything is possible with FAITH! Forming Faith, Building Minds & Changing Lives Inside this Edition….. S.E.R.V.E. Barts Bards SB Youth Group GCPSL Greenhills Soccer Greenhills Preschool June 3, 2014 Dear JPII Families, The end of another school year is wrapping up. This year has brought many good and some sad memories for the staff and students. Throughout the year, we welcomed new students and two new teachers, Ms. DeLaney and Mr. Howard. We sent more students to the SCRIPP Spelling Bee and to Columbus for the Geography Bee. Fifty one percent of our 8th graders were awarded scholarships for their academic achievements. The field trips the students went on, the buddy experiences, the Masses and prayer services, the band concert, the talent show, our namesake becoming a saint, the first 8th grade lock in and finally Fun and Field Day make up the fun we have with one another. There were some unexpected and sad times here at JPII. Everyone looks forward to a few snow days. The first couple is a nice treat to build a snowman or going sled riding down a snow covered hill. Eight snow days and three blizzard bags were torture for everyone. Instead of praying for snow, we prayed for warm sunny weather. The snow has melted and the sun has warmed our days, which bring us closer to summer vacation and a time to say goodbye to our 8th graders, students and families who are moving on and four beloved staff members. We are truly sad to see these talented individuals leave JPII, but we will always be blessed that they made an impact in our lives. We wish all of our students and families a safe and fun filled summer. For those leaving us, may God bless your days with happiness, peace, and fulfillment in everything you do. Remember with faith anything is possible. The following is a list of the events that will occur these final two weeks: June 4th is Fun and Field Day! We need volunteers! On April 30th, at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering, the third annual Archdiocesan Principal Awards Luncheon was held. Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Dr. Jim Rigg, was the emcee. As the Catholic Telegraph stated, “the most prestigious award of the event, the Christ the Teacher Award, is given to principals who personify the ideal of Jesus as the ultimate teacher and divine example of effective leadership”. Mrs. Roach was this year’s elementary school principal chosen to receive this impressive award. Please join us in congratulating her.
