Certified Compliance Officer Program

The Institute of Banking is delighted to
introduce the “Certified Compliance
Officer” (CCO), which is a newly
developed comprehensive training
program.
The CCO was designed by carefully
selected group of specialists and
faculty members in the Compliance,
AML, and Corporate Governance
fields in the Saudi Arabia monetary
agency (SAMA), the Banking and
Financial services sectors, and the
Institute of Banking (IOB).
The aim of the CCO program is to enhance the ability of compliance managers,
officers and other employees working in compliance departments and other control
functions. Real-life compliance cases from the financial and banking industry in
Saudi Arabia will be used in the program to increase compliance practitioners’
awareness of key compliance issues presented in the program.

The importance of the program
After completing the CCO program successfully, participants will obtain the
“Certified Compliance Officer” Certificate. More importantly, participants and
will acquire the required skills and abilities that will develop their expertise and
competencies to work in compliance departments and/or any other related
control departments in the Banking and Financial Institutions. More specifically,
the program will help participants:
1. U
nderstand compliance principles, corporate governance and anti-money
laundering concepts; thus, strengthening their bank’s ability to respond
professionally to the regulatory requirements.
2. O
btain information to build and implement compliance programs to fight money
laundering practices, and to apply Corporate Governance rules.
3. Identify and understand compliance risks, and the consequences of noncompliance.
4. U
nderstand and strengthen the relationship between Compliance and Corporate
Governance.

CCO contains three integrated courses covering the following topics:

The regulatory authorities now
require all banks and financial
institutions to comply with rules,
regulations and ethical standards to
maintain and protect their integrity,
reputation and the interests of
their shareholders and depositors.
Compliance with these rules will
eventually protect banks from
regulatory sanctions.

The illegal and irregular activities,
such as drug trafficking, weapons,
prostitution,
corruption
and
concealment, if took place, can
affect and impact the integrity and
reputation of many international and
local banks and even some banking
systems. As this matter affects
Governments,
authorities
and
supervisory bodies, the regulatory
authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia issued rules, regulations
and instructions in order to help banks and financial institutions to avoid illegal
operations and to maintain the integrity and reputation of the banking system and
