C.O.P. NEWS Common Operational Picture Volume 1, Issue 5, March 2014 From The Desk of the CEO Dateline: Locations All Across America This last month has been hectic as members of the AGIS, Inc. staff took to the road for AEWE in Ft. Benning, GA; JIFX at Camp Roberts, CA ; Call for Fire software installation (JCS J6 C4AD) in Suffolk, VA, and presentations in Washington, DC. Check out the article “From Sea to Shining Sea” to get caught up on all the details. (Note: At press time the detail associated with Call for Fire is being compiled and will be provided in future editions of C.O.P. News.) Technology is always on the move. In our efforts to remain at the forefront of innovation, we realize that as we continue the development of LifeRing itself, we must also ensure that LifeRing is capable of interfacing with other technologies. Our latest interfaces with the VECTRONIX Laser Range Finder PLRF25C and AFTADS are described in these pages. As 2014 progresses, we will keep you up-to-date on the developments with LifeRing and associated technologies. All that and more so that we can be your partner in….. Keeping you on Target, Cap From Sea to Shining Sea This past month saw a flurry of activity at AGIS – which began with staff members packing their bags and hitting the road to demonstrate LifeRing in a variety of environments. As of this writing the longest running activity of the past month, AEWE – Spiral I in Ft. Benning, GA is still underway. JIFX – Joint Interagency Field Experimentation Program February 10th – 14th at Camp Roberts, CA In an effort to create a collaborative and innovative learning environment to benefit those organizations that respond to emergent and emergency situations, the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS) began sponsoring field experiments in 2002 at their facility located at the California National Guard’s Camp Roberts. Included in the collaborative effort were the Department of Defense, other government agencies, business and industry, academia and First Responders. By 2012 the success of these field experiments earned the program the sponsorship of The Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security as well as a new name - JIFX. AGIS was, once again, proud to be a participant at the most recent event. Notable successes included LifeRing’s ability to exchange real time data using CoT (Cursor on Target). LifeRing sent tracking data and photographs to the JIFX collaborate.org website thus proving LifeRing’s capability to interact with DHS systems. We also integrated LifeRing with the Golden-I Heads-Up Display (HUD). Further details will be provided in the March edition of C.O.P. News. And our thanks to the folks at Motorola Solutions for again providing us with the opportunity to successfully demonstrate our capabilities with their SRX 2200 P25 radios. AGIS participated in additional experiments and those results are currently under review. Complete information will be provided in next month’s issue of C.O.P. News. Stay tuned……… Washington, DC During 3 days in DC, AGIS’ CEO Cap Beyer met with TDMs (Technical Decision Makers) and BDMs (Business Decision Makers) from both the public and private sector. This represented an opportunity to demonstrate LifeRing to a new audience of decision makers inside the Beltway. These face-to-face exchanges provided excellent feedback and important data points that can be thoughtfully utilized as we continue to develop LifeRing to meet the needs of the Military and First Responders in the 21st Century. LifeRing puts a Tactical Operations Center in your Hand! LifeRing Communicates with AFTADS Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFTADS) is designed for the planning and execution of fire support for our soldiers in the field. AFTADS, with guidance from commanders, has the ability to prioritize multiple targets, perform attack analysis and pare targets to weapons for the most effective use of fire support. But like any system, AFTADS is dependant upon receiving accurate information. In field exercise environments, soldiers who utilize LifeRing for the COP can digitally relay information using JVMF (Joint Variable Message Format) to the AFTADS System. And, in return, the AFTADS System can digitally communicate with the soldiers on the LifeRing Network. This digital 2-way relay of information precludes the errors common to voice transmission. The result is fast, accurate communication that provides precision targeting. LifeRing Interfaces with VECTRONIX Laser Range Finder AGIS, Inc. is pleased to announce that LifeRing now interfaces with the VECTRONIX PLRF25C, a monocular Laser Range Finder with a built in digital magnetic compass. The PLRF25C sends out a laser “ping” that along with the digital compass provides the user range and bearing to an object. This is essential for targeting, particularly in desert or other sparse conditions where there are no discernible landmarks. The Vectronix PLRF25C allows for precise targeting with a range up to several kilometers. Once the PLRF is paired with a LifeRing Smartphone, the GPS location inherent to the LifeRing Network adds the final piece to the puzzle. LifeRing operators know that, with a simple touch of the LifeRing Smartphone map display, target location is specified and transmitted to all on the network. And since LifeRing now interfaces with the VECTRONIX PLRF25C (see companion article in this issue), target location can also be specified using this option. In the coming year, AGIS plans to continue testing LifeRing in field exercise environments that will include both AFTADS and JVMF. We will post our progress in this publication. Together the PLRF 25C and LifeRing enable users in battlefield situations to digitally communicate any given target’s location to AFATDS (Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System) (see companion article in this issue), thus enabling rapid precision targeting. AGIS continues to look for new ways to partner with the latest technologies in order to keep our LifeRing users safe and on target. LifeRing puts a Tactical Operations Center in your Hand!
