CNE, ANEF; and Victor Ospina, DNP, ARNP, ACNP-BC, CCRN, will present exemplars of transition to practice approaches in various settings and provide an opportunity to interact and discuss

professional practice. Discussion will focus on modalities for socialization to the professional nurse
role in the education setting and collaboration with clinical partners for student success.
Caring for Vulnerable Populations: Mental Health, Gerontology, Veterans, Alzheimer's
Unfolding Cases
Susan Forneris, PhD, RN, CNE, CHSE-A; Mary Anne Rizzolo, EdD, RN, FAAN, ANEF; and Janet
Willhaus, PhD, RN, will present this workshop highlighting how faculty members from across the
country have used teaching resources from the Advancing Care Excellence series that began in
2009 as a project to develop innovative teaching strategies to teach students about care of older
adults. The series has expanded to include teaching strategies for care of veterans and
Alzheimer's patients and their families. This presentation will demonstrate the key elements of the
simulations and teaching strategies providing faculty with an opportunity to dialogue about use and
implementation in their own curricula.
Best Practices in Quantitative Student Assessment and Evaluation
This panel-led discussion session will focus on providing nurse educators with the best practices
in test construction and test item evaluation. Additionally, the session will review how to utilize the
test data for the evaluation of individual students, curriculum, and program effectiveness.
