ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 7 –
DECEMBER 14
MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from
Sunday, December 7 through Sunday, December 14, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in
mind that construction work is weather-dependent.
Highway 1 – Big Sur: December 8 – December 12


Daytime grinding and paving along Highway 1 at Burns Creek Bridge from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: December 7 – December 12


Night time k-rail installation on the northbound Fremont Street Highway 1 on-ramp between from 8
p.m. to 6 a.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Toro Park: December 7 – December 13



Night time utility work along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 at two locations from 8 p.m. to
5 a.m.
The locations are:
o Between Route 218 (Cyn Del Rey) and Olmsted Road.
o Between Toro Park and Bit Road
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 68 – Salinas River: December 10


Daytime utility work along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 at the Salinas River Bridge from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Salinas: December 9 – December 10


Daytime utility work along eastbound Highway 68/ Main Street between Pine Street and Oak
Street/Geil Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes

Highway 101 – Greenfield: December 7 – December 12



Daytime and night time k-rail installation along northbound Highway 101 at multiple locations \
The locations are:
o The northbound shoulder from Lagomarsino Avenue to just south of Hudson Road.
o Espinosa Road on-ramp and off-ramp.
o Oak Avenue on-ramp and off-ramp.
o Walnut Avenue on-ramp and off-ramp.
o Thorne Road on-ramp and off-ramp.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Gonzales: December 11


Daytime bridge work on the southbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Fifth Street/Johnson Canyon
Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Salinas: December 9 – December 11


Daytime pavement repair on Highway 101 between Route 68 (John Street) and Route 183 (North
Main Street) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: December 7 – December 12



Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at
the following locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The locations are:
o Between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane.
o Between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road.
o The northbound San Miguel Canyon Road off-ramp and on-ramp.
o Between Mallory Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road.
o The Crazy Horse Canyon Interchange northbound and southbound on-ramps and offramps.
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – San Juan Road Project: December 7 – December 12


Night time work along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road and
Cannon Road/Rocks Road from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Imjin Parkway Class II Bike Lane Project


Daytime bike lane work on Imjin Parkway between Reservation Road and Imjin Road may result in
alternating lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Abbott Street Water Line Replacement Project


The Don Chapin Company is installing a water line main along the Abbott/Harkins/Dayton corridor
to improve water service to south Salinas California Water Service customers. During the Abbott
Street portion of work that has commenced, the #1 southbound Abbott Street lane will be closed
for the duration of next week. Abbott Street corridor and Abbott/Blanco/Sanborn intersection traffic
should expect 10-minute delays during construction. Access to all businesses in the area will be
available during the duration of construction, and bicycle lanes will remain available during
construction. Construction is not expected to occur on weekends, but traffic control will remain in
place during those days for safety reasons. Construction is weather dependent.
