with Hal Hinderliter
Unauthorized reproduction or reuse is strictly prohibited
What Are the MUST SEE ’EMS?
• It’s been sixteen years of competition for the
MUST SEE ’EMS, a product and technology
recognition program that provides an industrywide 'roadmap' to the most compelling
product introductions at PRINT
• Every attendee “must see them”
• The winners are listed in a brochure that is
distributed on the show floor, guiding show
goers as they consider the purchase of new
equipment and software
What Are the MUST SEE ’EMS?
• Vendors submit their new products to the
MUST SEE ’EMS competition, for evaluation
by the MSE Selection Committee
• The scores are tabulated by the Program
Coordinator, with the highest scoring products
earning MUST SEE ’EMS recognition
• And that’s not all – the Best of Category and
Legacy Award winners will be announced at
the EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK conference
• On the morning of Sunday, Sept. 28
Who Are the Judges?
• The Selection Committee is comprised
of consultants, educators, journalists and
printers from around the world
• This year’s committee is comprised of 32 industry
experts, all of whom have pledged to remain
anonymous and vote impartially
• After reviewing the entry form and any
supporting documents supplied by the
vendor, the judges vote on 5 criteria per entry,
ranking each on a scale of 0 to 4
The Judging Criteria
1. INNOVATIVE: This entry appears to feature one or more
significant innovations that could potentially reshape this category
2. EASE OF USE: This product should provide enhanced ease-ofuse as compared to what is considered "typical" for this category
3. THROUGHPUT: This product should provide significantly
improved throughput compared to competitors in the same
class / price range
4. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: Printshops that implement this
product will likely enjoy a significant business advantage
compared to other print providers in their sales region
5. OVERALL: This product deserves MUST SEE ’EMS recognition
• The first 4 votes are averaged, then added to the fifth
("Overall") vote, for a maximum score of 8
