Satchwell DDP TM DIFFERENTIAL AIR PRESSURE SENSORS Specification No: See table on Page 2. The DDP range of Differential Air Pressure Sensors are designed for the control of air pressure in duct-work by the regulation of variable volume fans and pressure regulating dampers in distribution systems and also at terminal units. They may also be used for the monitoring of air filter conditions. INSTALLATION INSTALLATION GUIDELINES These sensors are suitable for indoor use only. When selecting a mounting location, make certain the following conditions are met: • Do not install where excessive moisture, corrosive fumes, vibration, or explosive vapours are present. • Do not install near large contactors, electrical machinery or welding equipment. • Allow 150mm clearance from contactors, switches, and associated cabling. • Locate where ambient temperatures do not exceed 60°C or fall below 0°C and relative humidity does not exceed 90% or fall below 10%, non-condensing. • The unit should be mounted vertically on a flat mounting surface such as a panel back or ductwork. LOCATION AND WIRING It is recommended that the optional fitting kit DDP3601 (containing two metres of PVC tubing and 2 duct mounting pitot tubes) be used to ensure a reliable pressure connection. The pitot tubes fix to the duct with the Ø3mm self-tapping screws. See MLI 21.606 for mounting diagrams. When connecting the tubing, push it on with a clockwise twisting action to avoid loosening the barb fitting. Loop the tubing under the sensor to ensure that moisture condenses outside the unit. The sensor comprises two major parts: • A pre-wirable base plate (containing integral electronics and the pressure sensor) for wiring to the controller. • A removable cover. Cautions Refer to data sheet relevant to the controller to which sensor is to be connected. Screened cable is recommended. The cable screen should be earthed at the controller. Maximum resistance, 15Ω per core. 1. Drill mounting holes (see drilling diagram on back page) and mount sensor base plate using screws provided. Wire the sensor base plate as follows: 2 a. Strip 6mm of insulation from wires. b. Fit the plastic grommet provided (or the metal screw insert provided if conduit is to be used) and feed the wires through to the base plate terminals. Screw conduit (if used) into metal insert. c. Connect wires to screw terminals as shown in connection diagram on Page 3. 2. Align the cover hinge with the slot on the right hand side of the base plate (see illustration). Pressure terminations Cover hinge Cable entry Wiring terminals LCD Display Pressure Sensor 3. Configure the sensor as required (see Configuration) 4. Close the cover and secure with the two retaining screws. 5. Insert the plastic blanking plug into the cable entry hole on the right hand side of the sensor. • Jumper JP6 - enables selection of either 0-5Vdc or 0-10Vdc as the output (when Volts is selected on the Volts/mA switch) • Zero - sets the LCD display (where fitted) to zero (display zero also facilitated by a remote switch connected to the Zero-Aux terminals) CONFIGURATION 1. Set the configurable controls for the required application. The options are (see illustration): • Volts/mA - sets the output mode to either Volts (jumper selectable, 0-5Vdc or 0-10Vdc) or mA (4-20mA). • Range - The Range switch enables setting of the pressure range as shown in the above diagram. • Jumper JP3 - enables selection of either Unidirectional or Bidirectional pressure 1. Remove power from the sensor. 2. Unscrew the two screws and remove the front cover. Recover the plastic blanking plug. 3. Re-configure/re-wire as required. 4. Align the cover hinge with the slot on the right hand side of the base plate. 5. Close the cover and secure with the two retaining screws. 6. Insert the plastic blanking plug into the hole on the right hand side of the sensor. 7. Restore supply voltages to sensor. The cable screen should be earthed at the controller. Maximum resistance, 15Ω per core. • Observe wiring precautions given on the data sheet for the controller that the sensor will be connected to. • Do not exceed the maximum ambient temperature. • Interference with parts under sealed covers invalidates guarantee. • Design and performance of TAC Satchwell equipment is subject to improvement and therefore liable to alteration without notice. • Information is given for guidance only and TAC Satchwell does not accept responsibility for the selection and installation of its products unless information has been given to the Company in writing relating to a specific application. • A periodic system and tuning check of the control system is recommended.
