What is mobileID?
MobileID is a smartphone-based, legally secure, digital identity, distributed by
the Barcelona City Council among the public, designed to have a general use.

The Failure of the DNI-e
Spain has become the european country with the greatest number of
digital certificates (32 million of e-DNI). However there is not a
widespread use of e-DNI.
Only a 4,7% of the Spaniards have used the e-DNI in their relations with
the Public Administration.
Some causes of the lacking use of the e-DNI could be: The need of a
specific hardware, a complicated installation system, the obligation of
having a key and the small period (only 20 months).

Motivation
In summary, there is a need for an
easier-to-use identity:
‐ The success of eGovenment and
digital procedures requires
alternatives to the existing digital
certificates
‐ Smartphones are the connection
devices that most people have in
their pockets and use normally.
