Annex 1 - Terms of Reference for the Rehabilitation of Water and
Wastewater Infrastructure in North Jordan

Tendering process
The Call for Interest is the first stage in the process for selecting and contracting of the construction firm(s) that will carry out the
required works. Those companies considered eligible will be invited to submit detailed bids as part of a restricted tender before
the final evaluation and contracting is completed. Please pay special attention to the instructions to bidders in the tender
documents for a list of key documents that need to be submitted to be considered eligible.
2.
Project Objective
The project’s overall objective is to rehabilitate critical water and wastewater infrastructure at 10 sites in Mafraq, Irbid and Zarqa
Governorates.
3.
Scope of works
The selected construction firm will be expected to carry out the construction work including supply of materials, installation and
all works on site, commissioning, testing and disinfection where required. The works consist of 10 discrete projects in North
Jordan, including works at:

Asa’ara Water Pump Station, Qasabat Irbid, Irbid;

Bustana K103 Borehole Pump Station, North Badia, Mafraq;

Swelmeh Water Pump Station, West Badia, Mafraq;

Batrawi Water Pump Station, Batrawi, Zarqa;

Zarqa Water Pump Station, Zarqa;

Nuaimeh Wastewater Lifting Station, Bani Obaid, Irbid;

Sham St Sewer Line, Ramtha, Irbid;

Hashemiah Main Street Sewer Line, Hashemiah, Zarqa;

Hai Ma’asoum Sewer Network, Zarqa;

Jabal Abeid Sewer Line, Zarqa.
The works include (but are not limited to) the following activities:

Supply and installation of water and wastewater pumps including all associated pipework, fittings, housing (where
required) and foundations (where required);

Maintenance and rehabilitation of water pumps and water pumping stations;

Supply and installation of new sewer main lines (approximately 1,500 m in total, across three different project sites);

Replacement and repair of sewer manholes;

Jet cleaning of existing sewer lines;

Supply and installation of new water reservoirs;

Rehabilitation and maintenance of water reservoirs;

Rehabilitation of chlorination systems (including construction of housing);

Supply and installation of electrical control panels;

Rehabilitation of electrical control panels;

Rehabilitation of operator rooms (including installation of toilets and septic tanks)

Earthworks and asphalting of access roads; and

All associated civil and electrical works.
The construction works will need to be completed before the end of December 2014.
A consultant has been contracted already and will develop the design until the executive stage. The Executive Design for each
project will include technical specifications, a detailed BoQ, construction guidelines and timeframe. The executive Design will be
supported by complete calculations, drawings, details and material specifications and all the relevant information needed for the
construction phase.
The selected construction firm shall ensure that all elements of the rehabilitations comply with the Water Authority of Jordan
standards, other relevant Jordanian standards and the specifications in the Executive Design.
