ELC Junior Programs offer young learners the opportunity to learn English in four spectacular U.S. cities
while building life-long friendships with their peers from around the world and discovering valuable
life lessons. A combination of courses, activities and excursions creates the perfect balance of learning and fun.
Our Junior Programs are designed to provide exceptional support, supervision and excitement, ensuring our
students’ experiences are educationally, socially and culturally enriching.

Summer Junior Program
ELC offers residential Junior Programs for students between the ages
of 14-17 as well as 11-13 (at UCSB and Wheelock College). The Summer
Junior Program give students the opportunity to study and live on a
famous American university or college campus. ELC offers the Summer
Junior Program at four unique and prestigious campuses located in the
heart of each city. These locations are UCLA (Los Angeles), UCSB (Santa
Barbara), Wheelock College (Boston) and MIT (Cambridge).

 2-week minimum, begin any Monday
 Semi-Intensive English Program –
20 lessons per week (50 minutes/lesson)
 Full-board residence accommodation
(18 meals per week)
 Optional evening and Saturday activities/excursions
 Local transportation and airport transfer

Explanation of Courses
Number of levels: up to 12
English level evaluation with multi-level placement: Placement testing
includes a grammar section, a writing section, and an interview with the
Director of Courses. The three separate components of the test allow us to
make accurate placements for each of the students’ classes. Grammar Structure and Usage
 Teaches students the rules of grammar usage through communicative teaching methods.  Gives students the opportunity to practice using grammar in both speaking and writing. Conversation, Listening, Vocabulary and Pronunciation
 Gives students practice speaking in English and listening to and understanding English spoken by native speakers.  Provides students with feedback and special exercises to help improve pronunciation. E

 UCSB students can add surf lessons to their activities programs for a supplemental fee.
Students who choose to participate in surfing will have two surf lessons per week.  Classic Activities Program and Explorer Activities Programs take place during weekday

World’s entertainment industry, Film Explorers will get a chance to study the art of film,
visit a selection of famous Hollywood and entertainment landmarks, and also be given the
opportunity to collaborate on a film project.

ELC offers an optional week of exploration and excursions in both Los Angeles (UCLA) and Boston (Wheelock College/MIT). In lieu of
classes and regular afternoon activities students can spend the week

Winter Junior Program
Junior students also have the opportunity to study at ELC Los Angeles,
ELC Boston and ELC Santa Barbara during the month of January. The
Winter Junior Program is offered to students between the ages of 1417. The program gives young learners the opportunity to study at ELC
and live with an American host family while engaging in social and
cultural activities and excursions with their peers, teachers and staff.
