March 2014 Liebe Mitglieder, I hope you all are well and enjoy the wonderful autumn weather. We have a few great events in the next time and I am looking forward to meet you there. Plimmerton Beach on the Kapiti Coast On the 15th of March the Austrian Club meets at Plimmerton Beach for a wonderful Family Picnic. Bring your own food or enjoy the famous Fish and Chips you can buy there at the beach shops. We meet at 11am at Plimmerton beach across from the railway station on the north end of the beach. In April we have a Pub Lunch at the Hoopers Cafe on the Esplanade in Petone. It will be held on Saturday 26th April starting at 3pm. This coming together is also you opportunity to bring your self-grown Austrian pumpkin or a self-made pumpkin bread (see recipe) for the competition we have on. We have great prices for the lucky winners. Do you all know the wonderful pumpkin seed oil you can extract out of the seeds? If not, you are getting the chance to taste some on this day. Come and bring your family to enjoy a wonderful afternoon in Petone. And don't forget your pumpkins! :-) Kürbisbrot I kg Weizenvollkornmehl - 1 TL Salz - 40g Butter - 80 gr Hefe - 80 gr Zucker - 400 gr pürierter Kürbis - 50 gr Rosinen - 50 gr geriebene Kürbiskerne - 1/8 bis ¼ l Wasser Aus Mehl, Salz, Butter und Hefe, Zucker und dem lauwarmen Wasser einen Hefeteig zubereiten, zum Schluss den pürierten Kürbis und die Rosinen einkneten. Warm stellen und eine halbe Stunde rasten lassen. In eine befettete Kastenform füllen, nochmal 15 Minuten rasten lassen, mit Ei oder Wasser bestreichen und bei 180º ca. 45 Minuten backen.
