The EUT is an electronic device used with a canister to inflate a bladder with carbon dioxide
to provide buoyancy when triggered by pressure. The EUT contains the following modes;
1. Sleep mode, consuming virtually no power.
2. Sense mode, consuming about 2mA.
3. Trigger mode, one off event lasting approximately 3 seconds deploying the device.
Due to the nature of the operation of the device it was determined that the EUT would be
configured in Sense mode for final testing.

Testing was performed in South Australia at Austest Laboratories (SA)’s test facilities located
at:

(2.4m x 2.4m x 7.2m shielded enclosure, equipped with power and
telecommunications line filters.)
Open Area Test Site
(OATS):
Corner of Fox Creek Road and Lobethal Road, Cudlee Creek, SA
5232, Australia.
(10m OATS, equipped with 360 degree remote control turntable and
6m remote control antenna mast.)
Radiated emission testing is performed at an Open Area Test Site (OATS), where some
ambient signals may exceed the continuous disturbance limit. The possibility of missing an
emission during testing is removed by use of pre-scans, performed in a shielded enclosure,
prior to the final OATS measurements.

alligator clips. Final results are based on this mode and configuration.

Measurements were performed in accordance with the standard.
Measuring receiver BW was set to 120kHz (30MHz to 1GHz) EMI Receiver BW.
The EUT was set up on a non-conductive turntable, 0.8m above the OATS conductive
ground plane, and at the indicated test distance away from the measuring antenna.
Each emission to be measured was maximised by rotating the EUT through 360o and
adjusting the measuring BiLog antenna height between 1m to 4m in both vertical and
horizontal polarizations.
The maximised emission was measured and the above repeated for all measurement
frequencies.
Test Results
No tabulated results are provided as no significant EUT emissions were found.
Graphs shown in this Section are obtained using a Peak detector with the EUT and antenna
positions fixed. The green trace is the test site ambient profile and the black trace is the
combined effect of ambient emissions and the EUT. Differences between traces were
investigated to determine whether they were ambient or EUT emissions. The investigations
were supplemented by pre-scan plots done in a screened room prior to the radiated
emissions test. Only EUT emissions are reflected in the tabulated results given. Limit line is
shown in red.
