Abstract. To take advantage of this water availability the
ariete pump is an equipment handy, low-cost and that does not
pollute the environment. It enables you to capture, the pumping
and the elevation of the water. In Brazil are industrially
manufactured the ariete pumps of numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6.
In this project was prepared a ariete pump using PET bottles.
You can exchange the bottles according to the volume of the
same, having as objective is to observe the behavior of the
volume of water at the outlet and inlet of agreement with the
bottle used.
With the development of the project may be observed, in
agreement with the majority of the tests, that ariete pump of PET
bottle, regardless of its volume, is similar to ram commercial
number 4 that has a power of 11 to 26 liters per minute. Even
with this work it was found that the hydraulic ram with the PET
bottle of 3.3 liters has a greater regularity in its flow of output
and a higher efficiency at all times recorded, being a viable
alternative for the pumping of water.

Materials and Methodology
Ariete pump was constructed, using bottle
closure, 3 bushings of reduction (thread), 2 "T" of PVC
(thread), 2 PVC Nipples, pit valve brass, spring, bolt, 3
nuts and 2 washers and a check valve of brass. For the
assays were used PET bottles of 0.25 L, 0.6 L, 1.5 L, 2.0
L, 2.5 L and 3.3 L. The goal of the project was to analyze
the performance of the ariete pump with these different
bottles. Also analyze the yield with the lift heights of 3, 6
and 9 meters. Ten trials were conducted for each height,
with each bottle.
We collected the amount of water leaving the lift
height of the system and the exit of the pit valve. The
amount of water intake for pumping the ariete pump is
the sum of the two previous outputs. In all experiments
the height of entry of water in mutton was 1.40 meters.
For the calculation of income took-if the volume of water
high and divided by the total volume of entry.
1. Introduction
In the 21st century it is possible to use water
resources independent, as for example, small springs,
riverbanks and streams. To take advantage of this water
availability the ariete pump is a practical, low cost, and
that does not pollute the environment. It enables you to
capture, the pumping and the elevation of the water. In
addition to these advantages, the ariete pump needs little
maintenance, presents a good durability, not requiring
electrical energy or fuel for its operation, thus not causing
pollution of water. In Brazil are industrially manufactured
the ariete pumps in numbers of 3, 4, 5 and 6, with water
entry respectively from 7 to 15 liters, 11 to 26 liters, 22 to
45 liters and 70 to 120 liters.
In this project was constructed a ariete pump
using PET bottles. You can exchange the bottles according
to the volume of the same, having as objective is to
observe the behavior of the volume of water at the outlet
and inlet of agreement with the bottle used.

3. Results
In Figure 2 are presented the flow of input and
output medium, as well as the yield for each lift and
volume of each bottle used in the tests.
Fig. 2. Data from tests
During development of the project may be
observed, in agreement with the majority of the tests
presented in data, that the ariete pump PET bottle,
regardless of its volume, is similar to commercial number
4 that has a power of 11 to 26 liters per minute. Even with
this work it was found that the Ram pump with the PET
bottle of 3.3 liters has a greater regularity in its flow of
output and a higher efficiency at all times recorded, being
a viable alternative for the pumping of water.
4. Conclusion
Then ariete pump PET bottle is an economic
alternative to the exploitation of water resources, being
easy construction and price relatively more accessible than
the commercial. Enabling the permutation of bottles he
allows an adequacy more easy and economical to different
situations present in a property.
