WAHPR Surgery Department - Wachusett Animal Hospital and Pet

WAHPR Surgery Department
Wachusett Animal Hospital is pleased to open our referral surgical department headed by
residency trained surgeon, Dr. Richard Wong. We now offer a wide range of specialty surgical
procedures which utilize leading instruments and technology. Dr. Wong offers procedures to
treat orthopedic, gastrointestinal, thoracic, urogenital, and neoplastic conditions. As always, our
emergency department continues to provide life-saving surgical procedures including gastric
derotation and pexy, splenectomy, wound repair, gastrointestinal procedures and more.
Common procedures that Dr. Wong performs are ACL
repairs (TPLO and lateral suture) and fracture repairs.
Fracture fixation often implements pins and wires,
internal plates, and external skeletal fixators. Fixation
must be tailored toward the patient and the fracture
severity and location. Advances in repair techniques
have increased the chances for more reliable fracture
stabilization and faster healing.
At WAHPR, surgical patients are continuously
monitored 24/7 by a team of veterinarians and certified
technicians. State-of-the-art blood machines, x-ray,
ultrasound and monitors ensure the best care for your
patients along with peace of mind for their owners.
When referring a surgical case, please use our online
referral form: (www.wahpr.com/ReferringVeterinarians/WAHPR-Patient-Referral-Form.pdf).
Clients can schedule a consult directly with Dr. Wong
for stable patients. If the patient is unstable (i.e. trauma)
it will be admitted through the emergency department
and then transferred to the surgery department as
indicated. Please call 978-874-4100 with any questions
regarding a consultation or surgery.
WAHPR views our facility as an extension of your practice. The entire team at WAHPR is
honored for the privilege and opportunity to care for your patients. Our team of emergency
professionals takes this trust seriously; we treat each and every patient as if they were our own.
We are dedicated to providing the safest and most caring environment that you will find; we are

practitioner as one team, we can meet your patient’s most challenging healthcare needs.
