COMMUNITY
CONNECTORS
MENTORING
GRANTS RFA
In his 2014 State of the State address, Gov. John R. Kasich
outlined a new proposal to bring together families,
community organizations, faith-based groups, businesses
and others in support of our schools and to mentor
students. Community Connectors will provide $10 million
in 3-to-1 matching grants that will help give more Ohio
students, in grades 5-12, access to role models who can
help motivate and inspire them, as well as help them
develop skills that lead to success in school and the
workplace. Applications are currently being accepted. The
maximum award is $500,000, which will be awarded over
three years. Deadline for application submission is
Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. Reimbursement grants are
expected to be awarded in March 15. Awardees must be
ready to implement selected programs by Sept. 7, 2015.
2015 CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION AND
EARLY INTERVENTION DEMONSTRATION
PROJECT
OhioMHAS, in collaboration with the Ohio Children’s
Trust Fund (OCTF), is requesting proposals to develop,
implement and/or sustain evidence-based practices to
prevent child sexual abuse (CSA) and provide effective
early intervention services to young victims of abuse.

PCSAO WEEKLY UPDATE – 12/4/2014
The Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Early
Intervention demonstration project (MHA15039) aligns
Ohio’s Early Childhood Mental Health Services with the
statewide Strong Families Safe Community, Safe Schools
Healthy Students and the Early Learning Challenge
Grants. These initiatives prioritize focus on children birth
to 8 years old through evidence-informed and/or evidencebased programs and practices that are responsive to a
child’s community and cultural backgrounds.
This inter-agency collaboration will result in needed early
intervention/treatment services for young children
experiencing trauma from childhood sexual abuse and
empower young children with the skills to prevent future,
possible episodes of sexual abuse. By providing joint
funding of this $150,000 demonstration project,
OhioMHAS and OCTF showcase excellence in state
human service agency collaboration celebrating
prevention and trauma treatment innovation resulting in
“win-win-win” for Ohio’s children’s and families.
Proposals are due Friday, Dec. 12. All questions must
be submitted to the DAS portal by the date indicated.
