CITEL, the company
Etablished in 1937, CITEL-2CP is the leader in France for
Surge Protection Devices (SPD, TVSS...). In addition to the
hundred of thousands of modules manufactured, CITEL2CP is also oldest in the world for the manufacturing of
Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs, protection for fixed telecom
lines, modems, medical equipment etc...).

Our goal is to provide efficient and standard-compliant
solutions in order to ensure maximum performance and
reliability of our surge protectives devices.
Our objective : to protect your equipment against overvoltages
Various causes of transient overvoltages
Mainly caused by lightnings, transient overvoltages (several
kilovolts during a few microseconds) brings about important
consequences in every network (AC, DC, Telecom, Data, RF).
They may create disturbances, losse of data and even the full
destruction of sensitive equipment.

Increase your productivity
Limit discontinuities of service and their costs
Increase the life duration of your equipments
Improve the quality and precision of your process
Result : savings + improved quality of service

The Surge Protection Devices (SPD)
SPDs are the only efficient solution against transient overvoltages due to lightning or to switching phenomena. The goal is to limit the overvoltages to a level
in compliance with the electrical withstand of the terminal equipment to be
protected.
The SPD has to :

AC Powerline
provide the lowest residual voltage as possible,
provide a discharge capacity adapted to the real risks,
avoid disturbances of operation for the equipment.
These parameters will be reached by selecting the relevant surge protectors,
as well as installing them in the correct way. Easy to use and efficient, CITEL
surge protectors have been designed following the main international standards.
CITEL provides a wide range of surge protectors adapted to every network: AC
power , DC power, Telecom, Data and RF .

“Filtering” operation
0,5 up to 6 GHz
Imax : 100 kA
Residual voltage : a few volts
No DC power on coaxial cable
No ageing
•
•

PRC range provides a very high protection efficiency due to its very
low residual voltage. Moreover, the “quarter-wave” technology does
not need maintenance. Nevertheless the PRC protectors cannot be
used on RF cable with DC power injection (active antenna) and must
be carefully chosen in relation with the operating frequency.
Equipment
“Sparkover” operation
DC up to 6 GHz
Imax : 20 kA
Residual voltage < 300 V
Ageing in relation with the number of operations
The use of dedicated gas tubes allows a very large bandwidth to the
P8AX surge protectors (from DC to 6 GHz). Due to very low insertion
losses and excellent VSWR, these units can be used on all kinds of RF
lines, even in case of DC power injection (e.g.active antenna). For a fast
and easy maintenance, the internal gas tube is replaceable.

DC Block series available
Gas Discharge Tube (GDT)
The Gas tubes are passive components used to protect telephone exchanges and telecom terminal equipment against overvoltages. They
are generally installed on MDF by the telecom operators. They come in 2 or 3-electrode versions and are available in several discharge
capabilities and sparkover voltages.

Safety thermal disconnection and remote signalling
DS surge protectors are based on MOV or MOV+GDT technology
(patented “VG” technology) which are the best combination to provide
high discharge current capability and low residual voltage. The Type 1
versions have been designed to improve safety in low voltage networks
by avoiding follow currents.
