A Message from your Director
GKC Blessing of the Bikes 2014
FREE GKC Bowling Party
It’s sure been a long cold winter, but
there are finally signs of spring in the air
and the upcoming riding season. The
next scheduled ride of this season is set
for March 23rd. That is a Sunday Meet,
Greet, & Eat Ride! Several more rides
are scheduled in April and May, plus I’m
sure some impromptu rides will be held
along the way so stay connected and
informed by attending the monthly
meetings and being connected on our
Facebook page and email list.
Sunday April 27th
STRIKERZ’s Entertainment Center has
offered the GKC HOG Chapter a FREE
Bowling Party on Sunday March 9th at
6:30pm. At the party you can sign up for
a GKC HOG bowling league that will
start on Sunday March 16th and run for
10 weeks at a cost of only $10 per person
per week. Teams would include teams of
four. The desire is to get six teams. This
will not be a sanctioned league, and
STRIKERZ will take care of all the
scores and standings. If you don’t think
you could bowl every week, add an extra
bowler or two and switch out. If you
commit to the league, you or your
representative will be responsible for
paying the $10 each week.
This year the Chapter will return to
Loose Park for our annual Blessing of
the Bikes. The blessing of the bikes will
begin at 2:00pm. Meet at the park, which
is located at 51st and Wornall Road at
2:00pm, or join a ride meeting at Blue
Springs Harley-Davidson at 1:00pm.
After our blessing at the park, the group
will ride to St. Patrick Church, north of
the river, for a blessing there. More
details will be announced later.
I’m also excited to announce a FREE
bowling party that STRIKERZ
Entertainment Center has offered to the
GKC HOG Chapter. That party is on
Sunday March 9th at 6:30pm. At the
party you can sign up for the GKC HOG
bowling league that will start on Sunday
March 16th and run for 10 weeks at a cost
of only $10 per person per week. You
can find more details elsewhere in this
newsletter. Very soon we’ll all be
enjoying our Harley-Davidson
Motorcycles back on the open road so
come on out and join us!
Be sure to attend the monthly meeting on
March 18th. Blue Springs HD has been
offering the GKC members some very
special deals on meeting night and you
could win a door prize, be the Mystery
Member or win the 50/50 pot.
You’ll hear about upcoming events and
scheduled rides for this spring as well.
See You There!
Hope to See You There,
Jeff Blystone
The flyer is on the next page. If you
didn’t sign up at the chapter meeting,
please RSVP direct to STRIKERZ.
GKC Volunteering at Special
Olympics
Saturday, April 26th
This year The GCK HOG Chapter will
again be volunteering at the annual
Special Olympics in Lee’s Summit. Our
chapter has been doing this for a long
time. It’s always a great time and an
uplifting experience. There will be a
short ride from BSHD to Lee’s Summit
North High School on Saturday morning
and we are usually done with our duties
by just after lunchtime. So save the date
and more details will be announced as
we get closer to the day.
Hope to See You There,
Jeff Blystone

Oil. If you didn’t change the oil before you
put your bike away for winter, it would be
wise to change it now. Even if you don’t need
to change the oil now, be sure to check the oil

Gasoline. Has your bike been sitting all winter
with a tank full of gas? Did you add any
stabilizer? Check the fuel filter for clogs and
clean the carburetor.

While checking your bike mechanically is important,
having it look good isn’t bad either. Give your bike a
good scrub and wax to protect it from riding season
hazards, including dirt, rocks, and even the sun.
Even after the first ride is under your belt, remember
to perform T-CLOCK (tires, controls, lights, oil,
chassis, and kickstand) before every ride.
