This September and October have flown by, and we have seen a flurry of activity at the House and in the neighbourhood as new programs were launched and well-loved existing programs continued to flourish. This year’s Metamorfest was a resounding success with lots of activities on both Prince Albert and Fraser to Sahali Park. We welcomed Pacific Community Resources Society and Vancouver Native Housing as the anchors of our Fraser Street stage, as well as our long-time partner, Western Front New Music Society, and over 30 other community partners who hosted really great activities at their booths. And the team is already thinking about next year, so if you have feedback or suggestions, or want to get involved in the planning, please get in touch with me at jhamel@mpnh. org. We are now preparing for winter seasonal activities and our special visitor has confirmed his presence at Winter Wonderland again this year. Join us for Pancake Breakfast or Christmas Dinner! There are lots of great programs and activities to get involved in, and I want to draw your attention to a couple of new initiatives: Sing and Grow is a unique program developed by our Family Resource Program staff for parents and caregivers with newborns to 18 months, and Building an Age Friendly Mount Pleasant, with great brain-body and dementia friends training. Our settlement programs have grown, and we’re pleased to introduce IMPACT Mentoring for newcomers with foreign experiences in social services, community-based or health sectors. Perhaps you know someone interested in being a mentor? There are many ways to get connected to Mount Pleasant Neighbourhod House, and I invite you to explore this guide for activities that may be of interest to you. If you are interested in learning about what’s going on in Mount Pleasant, please sign up for our bi-monthly newsletter at [email protected].
