THE GVH DISTRIBUTION GAZETTE GVH Family of Companies Newsletter August, 2014 A Note from the President… I just celebrated 20 years with GVH on July 15th, and on that day, I took a minute to reflect on the last 20 years. When I moved to Lubbock, Texas from Portland, Oregon, I never imagined I would stay in Texas and work for a 6 person company which included my father-in-law, Buddy Furgerson, as the President and his wife, Beth, as the one person team in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Our annual sales back then was $3 million dollars a year, and our Lubbock/Amarillo office did a combined total of $644,000 a year. I’m happy to say Lubbock and Amarillo will do over $35 million dollars in sales, and the GVH Family of Companies will have another record year in sales of over $100 million dollars in 2014. Buddy and Beth took a great risk in hiring me (their 30 year old son-law at the time) and giving me almost total autonomy to their family business. As I say often, “success is not by accident and neither is failure”; I am so proud of all our team members that made this happen and will continue to help grow the company to our $1 billion dollar a year goal in sales. I’m looking forward to the next 20 years of exceeding customers’ expectations and watching our team members grow and succeed in their professional growth and career. Thank you; I feel very fortunate to be your President of the GVH Family of Companies. – Joe Schmidt 1|P age Pga GVH Distribution Employee Highlights Whitney Potts Whitney Potts is our Purchasing Team Leader within the GVH Family of Companies.
