The Governor has announced that a Site Area Emergency exists at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station and
RECOMMENDS all persons located within the established security zone in the immediate vicinity of the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station should remain indoors or take shelter in any available building and stay tuned to an EAS station. A
security zone has been established and includes portions of Salem Township, Luzerne County near the nuclear plant. Travel
inside the security zone is restricted. Traffic outside the security zone will be rerouted based on events at the plant:

There has been a security incident at Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
This is a Lockdown Emergency Alert System Announcement
From the State Emergency Operations Center, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The following message has been
released by the Director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency:
The Governor has announced that a Site Area Emergency was declared at the Susquehanna Steam Electric
Station. The Governor recommends that persons living or working in the immediate vicinity of the facility
remain indoors or take shelter in any available building due to a security incident at the Susquehanna Steam
Electric Station.
Officials have established a security zone affecting the following roads: PA Route 11, Beach Grove Road, and
Confers Lane in the area of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. Motorists should avoid the area.
Additional measures are in place to reroute motorists away from the incident. Anticipate increased volumes
of emergency services traffic in the vicinity.
Sirens within the area may be periodically activated to direct your immediate attention to announcements over
the designated Emergency Alert System radio and television stations.
Stay tuned to this station for official bulletins and special instructions issued by the Pennsylvania Emergency
Management Agency.
