Subject
: Which Jahn product for which situation?
Dear…
For over 35 years the Jahn products have been on the international market and in that period
they have acquired an excellent reputation with contracting companies, plasterers, pointing
and natural stone firms, sculptors, church organisations and municipal, provincial and
national government organisations. The Jahn products are supplied ready-for-use and are
composed of mineral ingredients (with the exception of the Jahn M10 Stabiliser).
The Jahn products are characterised not only by their excellent quality, durability and
economical consumption, but also because of their specific and special characteristics that
make “Jahn” a familiar name. Our products are purely mineral based, they are highly
resistant to moisture, frost and salt as well as moisture and salt regulating.
Our product range is subdivided in three categories, the Jahn M line, the Jahn S line and
finally the Jahn Kalx line. The products in the M and Kalx lines are so-called ʻstandard
productsʼ. They are manufactured in such a way that they meet the average values that we
have applied on numerous objects throughout the years. The S line is based on a further
development of the M line in terms of technical properties and can therefore be used for a
wide range of mortar applications.
We would like to give you a brief survey what each of our products stands for, so that you
can see at one glance which product is applied in a given situation. Of course we are happy
to provide you with any further information. We can be reached by telephone at
+31(0)181 32 44 62 or by e-mail: [email protected]
We hope that with this information we have informed you to your satisfaction.
Kind regards,
H.H.O. Jahn

Jahn M-line (mortar products)
1.
Stabilisation
1.1
Jahn M30 Injection Glue and the Jahn M40 Injection Mortar
In the event you have to deal with cracks with a cracking width between 0.2
and 5 mm, you can use the Jahn M30 injection glue 0030/100. In case the
cracks are wider, from 5 mm up to 100 mm, you can use the Jahn M40
injection mortar 0040/100. Both mortars are suitable for injecting
constructional cracking.
2.
Stucco
2.1
Jahn M60 Plaster Mortar
In case new plaster has to be applied to the brickwork, you can choose from
five types of plaster products in three different colours. All these types are
resistant to frost, moisture and salt and are moisture and salt regulating. They
are suitable for use inside and outside. The colours available are: Jahn M60
Cura 0265/100 white, Jahn M60 Cura 0267/100 broken white and Jahn M60
0287/100 light grey.
In addition, the Jahn M60 type E 0286/100 light grey or the M60 type E
293/100 whitish are available. As a result of the fine structure composition, it is
excellently suited for making block motives and profile and cutting on outside
walls.
In practice, the plasterwork is usually painted afterwards, often in a whitish
colour. Therefore, application of a paint coat in case of the Cura 0265/100 and
0267/100 is not really necessary, which has two advantages: on the one hand
it saves costs and on the other it avoids the application of a paint coat, which
is usually the weakest link in all plasterwork.
3.
Natural Stone Repair
3.1
Jahn M70 Natural Stone Repair Mortar
We offer a range of different natural stone repair mortars for the restoration of
natural stone. With these materials you can repair, among others, French,
Belgian and German limestone or sandstone. Within this range we have
developed numerous mortars, which are available in over 1500 colours. Each
type of natural stone mortar meets the standard/average technical values
applicable to the type of natural stone in question.
We supply the natural stone repair mortars listed below:
Sandstone/0012/100
Limestone/0022/200
Granite/0026/700
Tuff/0016/300
Marlstone/0023/100

3.2
Jahn M70 Staircase Mortar
For the specific repair of natural stone staircase steps, the Jahn M70
Staircase Mortar can be applied. This mortar must always be used in
combination with the Jahn M10 Stabiliser, which product will be discussed
later on.
3.3
Jahn M70 Natural Stone Repair Mortar “TS”
The various types of natural stone repair mortars can also be supplied in the
“TS” version. TS stands for Time Saving. This means that the TS mortars are
composed in such a way, that they need less moistening afterwards than the
non-TS types. This saves time, while at the same time the mortar is protected
from drying too quickly.
3.4
Jahn M70 Easyspray
The Jahn M70 Easyspray is an alternative for the “TS” version and also
prevents the quick drying of the mortar by spraying it immediately after
application. The Jahn M70 Easyspray is a mineral liquid which has as its
characteristic that it retains the mixing water which is part of the freshly
applied Jahn M70 repair mortar for a while so that the mortar can hardly dry
and burn. This liquid can be used with all Jahn M70 products.
Reproduction work
4.1.
Jahn M75 Stamp Mortar
Although in this case, too, there are several versions available, depending on
the wishes and objectives, the Jahn M75 Stamp Mortar 0018/100 is the most
current and ideal mortar for reproduction work. This mortar can to a large
extent approach the structure and density of the original object that needs to
be reproduced.
5.
Anchoring work
5.1
Jahn M80 Cast Mortar
The Jahn M80 Cast Mortar 0216/100 is intended for fixing or securing
anchors, clamps, dowels, etc. in walls of natural stone. The Jahn M80 Cast
Mortar 0216/100 is shrinkproof. Besides, this mortar can also be used for
reproduction work.
6.
Concrete work
6.1
Jahn M90 Concrete Repair Mortar
The Jahn M90 Concrete Repair Mortar was awarded the Cur recommendation
and meets all generally set criteria for this. This mortar, which slows the
process of carbonation, can be adjusted to the concrete to be repaired.
6.2
Jahn M95 Anti-rust 0291
To protect the reinforcement steel, a liquid glass can be applied, the Jahn M95
Anti-rust 0291. This material consists of a special silicate that is capable of
insulating the steel completely from the influence of oxygen and moisture. This
liquid glass has high alkaline properties, with a pH value of 12.
7.
Brickwork
7.1 Jahn M100 Brick and 0025/1000 and Terracotta 0229/1000 Repair Mortar
To repair brickwork and terracotta, the Jahn M100 Brick Repair Mortar
0025/1000 and the Jahn M100 Terracotta 0229/1000 can be applied,
respectively. With these materials, damaged or missing parts of an object can
be repaired or replaced.
8.
Pointing
8.1
Jahn M110 Pointing Mortar
In most cases, damage to pointing is the result of ageing or erosion, lack of
maintenance or the application of unsuitable products. In case you are
considering replacing damaged pointing and renew it, you can use the Jahn
M110 Pointing Mortar 0010 (flat pointing 0010/600) or … (cutting/clipping
0213/1000). Both types are very resistant to high moisture and salt loads and
meet the average physical and mechanical properties of the brick and/or
natural stone elements. For special applications there are the following
mortars: windmills the S110 Pointing Mortar 0096, for waterworks the S110
Pointing Mortar 0253 and for drains and sewers the S110 Pointing Mortar
0097.
9.
Levelling and sealing hairline cracking
9.1
Jahn M120 All-round Mortar
The Jahn M120 All-round Mortar is justly called all-round. Its range of
application is very wide, but mainly this mortar is intended for small modelling
work, levelling rough and slightly damaged surfaces and sealing hairline
cracks in stony substrates. This type of mortar must always be used in
combination with the Jahn M10 Stabiliser. The M10 product is discussed
below.
10.
Paintwork
10.1
Jahn AZ Silicate Finish
The Jahn AZ Silicate Finish is a mineral based, open and porous paint system
that meets the VOB/DIN 18363 standard. The paint is suitable for inside and
outside use and is composed of special liquid silicates. The material is
resistant to all weather influences, is lightfast and resistant to ultraviolet
radiation.
11.
Improving bonding
11.1
Jahn M10 Stabiliser
The Jahn M10 Stabiliser is a synthetic aid and can be used in all places where
the strength of mortars needs reinforcement or in those places where difficult
substrates make normal bonding hardly possible or even impossible. In this
context you may think of hard and dense substrates, such as freestone,
concrete or tiles.
12.
Colour upgrading
12.1
Jahn JPS Colour System (airosilicate)
The Jahn JPS Colour System is an open, porous and lightfast “make-up” to
cosmetically upgrade stony facades consisting of concrete, natural stone or
plaster. Basically, the product can be compared with a paint system, but unlike
paint, the Jahn JPS Colour System – which is very economical in terms of
consumption – does not form a coat, but silicates with the substrate. The result
is a colour upgrade of the façade, giving it a very charming and lively
appearance, without undoing the original character.
13.
Pigments
13.1.
Jahn Pigments
The pigments are composed of lightfast iron pigments.
