On 26th May 2014, students of second semester visited Security
Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regional office Bangalore. It is an
educative session for the students and were accompanied by Dr.
Manikandan. The resource person Mr. Shesha Sai, Public Relation
Officer delivered lecture on introduction to SEBI; Stock Exchanges
and its Rights; Guidelines for Issuing Shares; Rights to Shareholders; how to control scams; and guidelines to the investors.

visited Honda Two wheeler plant, Narasapur, Kolar on Saturday, 24th May 2014.

In the year 2013-2014, Students of MBA were mentored by KPMG Partner

ABBS has signed a MOU with ICICI direct Center for Financial Learning
for a new course on Banking, Financial Service, Insurance (BFSI) in PGDM.
The main focus is to craft the PGDM – BFSI students into professional bankers through various certification programmes includes
Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM) by FPSBI in collaboration with ICICI
direct Center for Financial Learning; Diploma in Banking & Finance, Risk

ABBS Enactus: A giant step to become tomorrow’s leader
ABBS has partnered with Enactus to motivate and empower students to take social entrepreneurship projects to benefit the society. Since 2012 ABBS Enactus team has done 4 projects like:
Streesabalikarna (Empowering housewives through self-employment)
Asha Deepa (To identify and help failed entrepreneurs),
Chetana (Facilitation for street coconut vendors)
StreeSablikarna project benefits "Women" (especially economically backward housewives)
to improve their livelihoods and give them economic freedom by transforming them into micro entrepreneurs.
ABBS Enactus Team participated at the Enactus India National Competition 2014 on 1 st and 2nd July at Hotel Taj
Land Ends Mumbai. The event provided opportunities to each and every team members to share and collaborate with
others like various company CEO's, Strategic Managers, Vice Presidents and Managers of various companies. The
event was judged by CEO's and Senior Directors, Managers from Jones Lang LaSalle, BPCL, KornFerry, KPMG,
Mahindra, Syntel, Tata Chemicals, Unilever, Cargill, BNY Mellon, Titan, Standard Chartered Bank, Veda Symantics,
Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Finance, Griffith Laboratories, Emcure, Adani, AESSEAL etc.

TOAST MASTERS INTERNATIONAL is Non-Profit organization which focuses on developing leadership skills, public speaking and effective communication to its members to create a better tomorrow.
ABBS Toastmaster s Club’ was formally inaugurated by our
guests TM. M.Venkat, former District Governor, and the Senior
TM Kumarasen, on 27th June 2014, Friday. The occasion was
graced by Mrs.Poornima Reddy, Director Admin, Dr. Mahishi,
Dean, ABBS, and Dr. H R Venkatesha, Director, ABBS.
ABBS Toastmaster Club is coordinated by Dr. R.Jayanthi, Faculty, ABBS, and TM.Jagadish, Area Governor.
The event started with lighting of lamp, followed by Table Topics contest, Miss Aarthy was the winner of
the Table topic contest as a best speaker. The office bearers of the ABBS
Toastmasters club was administered the Toastmaster’s Promise, followed by
a presidential speech by Mr. Riyas, IInd Sem MBA, President of ABBS TM
club.

Trends in stock market
ABBS organized and conducted a two-day workshop on
“Trends in Stock Markets” scheduled on 28th & 29th
March 2014. The workshop was about current trends in
stock market, scams in India and also about financial literacy. Mr Heramd Waldlkar a key note speaker spoke
about wealth management, various option of investment
and shared insights on investment management, portfolio
approach, trade mantras. The resource persons were Mr.
Amar Gupta, ICICI Securities Pvt Ltd.,; Mr. H K Hegde
Member BSE; Mr. Rishab Jain, Basket Option; Mr. Nilesh
Shah CEO Adit Advisory. They discussed on Investment
Management, Portfolio Management, Wealth Management, Stock Market Scams, Risk Management, Fundamental Analysis, Technical Analysis, Behavioral Finance.
The program coordinators of ABBS include Prof. Parveen
Sultana, Prof. LRS Mani, Prof. VS Chauhan, Dr. Kamini
Dhruva. The participants of the workshop were from different colleges across Bangalore which was K.L.E., M.S. Ramiah, Presidency College, Vogue Institute and ABBS students. At the end of the technical sessions Business
Quiz was conducted by Prof. LRS Mani.
NICT Workshop
AADHAR CAMP FOR STUDENTS TEACHING & NON TEACHING STAFF
The community development programme was conducted
to provide the Aadhar card to students, teaching and nonteaching staff from 28th to 30th April & 8th May, 2014
in Indoor Sports room at ABBS. The Programme was
inaugurated by our Director Dr. H. R. Venkatesha. The
programme was handled by employee of Aadhar office
from Bangalore & Mumbai. Faculty coordinators: Dr.
Kamini Dhruva & Prof. Parveen Sultana Kanth
facilitated 220 Students, 30 Teaching, 45 Non-Teaching
& 10 Family of our faculty participated in the
programme.

DIGITAL MARKETING
ABBS had organised and conducted a two-day workshop on “DIGITAL MARKETING”
scheduled on 9th & 10th May 2014. The resource person includes Mr. Kunal Verma; CEO Skillwiz; Mr. Arvind Nadig Sr. Business Manager – Giftbig.com; Mr. Satish Viswanathan
VP-NexGen; Prof. Anil Kumar R. The programme had a discussion on Introduction to
Digital Marketing, Evolution & Significance; Social Media Marketing for the Digital World;
Briefing for overnight Real Life Project; Big Data
Analytics; Search Engine Optimization. At the end of the technical
sessions Digital Quiz was conducted by Prof. LRS Mani. The
programme was successfully conducted by ABBS coordinator: Prof.
LRS Mani, Prof. V S Chauhan, Dr. Kamini Dhruva and Prof. Parveen
Sultana.
Data Analysis using SPSS
ABBS organised a Two Day workshop on SPSS which was held on 9th and
10th June. Prof. M.M. Shankar, the expert conducted the workshop on usage of
EXCEL, SPSS and PSPP. Dr. A. Dhanalakshmi addressed the gathering.
The programme was conducted by faculty coordinators Dr. Manikandan and
Prof. Prathibha Raj.

Strategic & Effective leadership
Effective Leadership for Excellence -Two days workshop-05-06 June
2014 by Dr. K Balaveera Reddy, Former Vice -Chancellor-VTU and Dr
Vasudeva Naidu.
ABBS has organized Faculty Development Programme, a two day
workshop for UG & PG faculty fraternity on “Effective Leadership for
Excellence” on 9th & 10th June 2014 and 8th & 9th July 2014 on
“Strategic Leadership for Excellence” at ABBS. The programme was
conducted by resource persons Dr. K. Balaveera Reddy & Dr. D.
Vasudeva Naidu. They dealt on various topic which include Leadership;
Building Institutions of Excellence; Emotional & Spiritual Intelligence;
Institutional Excellence, Institution industry interface and Performance
Management; Transactional Analysis ( TA) in leadership effectiveness;
Institutional strategies and sub-Strategies implementation; Strategic
Leadership Assessment using FIRO-B. The participants received their
certificates from International Academy for Competency Enhancement
[IACE].

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ‘ARTS & CRAFT’
As a part of community development programme ABBS has conducted ‘Workshop on Art and Craft’ for student, teaching and
non-teaching staff on 10th May 2014 in Amphitheatre. The Programme was inaugurated by our Director Dr. H. R. Venkatesha.
The resource person was from Pidilite industry, Ms. Priya Satish
Viswanathan conducted this work shop. Faculty Coordinator was
Dr. Kamini Dhruva, Dr. Nila Chotai & Prof. Parveen Sultana
Kanth. The programme had facilitated 42 students, 15 Teaching & 15 Non-teaching staff.

BIZOMINIA 2014, a Fourth National Fest was organised and conducted at ABBS Premises on 4th & 5th
April 2014. The event was coordinated by Prof.LRS Mani & Prof. Puneeta Goel. Mr. R S Vasan, M.D, Bosch
India addressed the gathering and emphasised on the need for students to learn over and above the University curriculum in order to become corporate ready. About 200 students from 17 colleges participated in
the event. The following events were conducted as a part of the event GESTION DE CRISE (Crises Management), EMPO-RIA (Marketing), SAIKON O MANEJA (Best Manager), HOMINES (HR) , REVER
CAPTURE (Entrepreneurship), TECHNOLOGIA (IT), PECUNIAM (Finance), KUIZU (Business Quiz), ARMAGEDDON ( Reality Show), UPARJAN (Cultural Events). Based on three criteria viz. Innovation, No of
participants & Sponsorship, Technologia (IT event) was declared as the best organized event. CMS Business
School won runner-up in Marketing, first prize in Best Manager, HR, and Entrepreneurship, PESIT won first
prize in Crises Management & Finance, East West College won first prize in IT, Presidency College won
first prize in Reality Show. RNSIT won first prize in Marketing, R V Institute of Management won first prize
in Business Quiz. The Overall Champions were awarded to CMS Business School, J.P. Nagar. ABBS thank
the student coordinators: Madhan M P [President], Amrutha Varshini [Secretary], Varghese O P [Vice
President], Vaishnavi [Joint Secretary] and other student coordinators.
ARMAGEDDON 2014, Season 2 powered by attitude an innovative game of excitement,
stress & team work. A reality game show was organised at ABBS powered by 27 metaphors full of attitudes include Binsu, Rahul, Sajo, Sahil, Fairu, Madan, Muheeb, Siraj, Goutham, Jaipal, Amrutha, Neethu, Swayam, Anush,
Arathy, Anuradha, Vinay, Vaishnavi, Anushree, Zaid, Joshua, Ambikesh, Sreejith, Jaseem, Bibin, Hashmi, Spandana. The event began with group discussion among one hundred and sixty participants were shortlisted and 80
participants were selected after stress interview which was conducted by crew members. Faculty stress interview
was conducted by Prof. Manikandan & Prof. Kiran Gowda out of which 38 participants were shortlisted. Finally
NUPUR SAHU won the first prize. Nandeesha won the second prize, Sanora patros won
the third prize. The prizes were distributed on 4th April 2014 during BIZOMANIA
Cultural Fest.

Graduation Day
September 2014
ABBS celebrated fifth convocation for Bangalore University on
28th June 2014. Our Director Dr. H.R. Venkatesha welcomed the gathering and Dr. D.M. Mahishi
Dean Academics addressed the gathering. Dr. Nila Chotai introduced the chief guest.
The chief guest Mr. Jay Doshi, Director at British Telecom delivered graduation lecture and addressed the students on importance of determination and commitment. He spoke about how to be successful in this competitive world. He mentioned various challenges before the Indian education and
the students to inculcate on scientific temper, commitment, honesty, integrity, equality and humanity.
He also focused on ‘HAPPY’ acronyms with HEALTH, AGILITY, PEACE, PERFECTION, & YOU.
Dr. L.R.S. Mani administered the oath to the graduating students. Prof. Kiran did the master of the ceremony and the programme came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Kamini Dhruva .

STUDENT TO STUDENT STORE
‘Student to Student’ store opening ceremony was held on 26th March. A ribbon
cutting ceremony was performed by Dean Acedemics Dr.M.Mahishi and first
worship was performed by Director Dr.H.R. Venkatesha. It was commenced
with 5 main partners and 20 executive members from the student community.
It is student driven and every operation is done by the students and for the students. The students seek to gain insight into key areas like finance, Marketing, Procurement, Product development and Operations through their involvement with the store. The store consists of FMCG and Electronic goods.
They served Woman’s Day, REGALIA 2K14 and BIZOMANIA 2014.
CAMPUS TO CROSS-CULTURE
JAPANESE PAINTING EXHIBITION
Students of ABBS went to Japanese exhibition at MG road on 25 May 2014 organised in
Rangoli Metro Hall. Painting exhibition was
inaugurated at 11.15 A.M. The paintings portrayed Indian & Japanese cultures and ten to
eleven Japanese sung and danced for Kannada and Hindi songs. There were different arts
were kept in the exhibition like seven wonders of India made by clay waste
materials. There were other stalls on old paintings and Indian religious history like Mahabharat sun.

Rural Camp Organized at BTM Coromandel and Gallahalli Village
A Day Rural Camp Organized at BTM Coromandel and Gallahalli
Village on 17th & 18th May, 2014.
As a part of Community Development Programme the students
the II Semester students of Acharya Academy of Management Studies
were taken for two-day camp at Coromandel and Gollahalli village
on 17th & 18th May, 2014. The camp was organized in collaboration
with an NGO, Better Tomorrow Movement (BTM). Dr. A. Dhanalakshmi, Program Coordinator and Dr. S. Manikandan, professor of
AAMS accompanied the students. Certificates were distributed to
the participants of the camp and BTM has given a letter of appreciation to AAMS.

ABBS is encouraging volunteer contribution by teaching, non-teaching and students. With that baggage
Dr. A. DhanaLakshmi, coordinator of PGDM has voluntarily initiated a workshop on Financial Education on
behalf of SEBI in the month of June and July. The workshop was benefited to children of Noble School, and
Government Boys High School; Undergraduates of Vokkaligara Sangha, Government RC College, Class IV employees of ABBS and Home Makers of Andhrahalli Village & members of ‘Better Tomorrow Movement’, a NGO at KGF.

Womens Day
WOMEN’S WING- PRAGATI
On
March 8th, Women’s Wing - Pragati has
organized and celebrated International Women’s Day 2014. The occasion was graced
by a chief guest Sashi Malpe, President of University Women’s Association Bangalore.
Pragati has been encouraging and supporting all the
women employees in their endeavors.
On this occasion “Women of the Year” was honoured
and awarded to Mrs. Poornima Reddy Director Admin for her enthusiastic and
dynamic personality at ABBS. Kumari Shruthi, a student from M.Sc. was also
awarded as a great women singer of ABBS. Pragati had conducted various
activities to relish teaching, non-teaching, students and class IV employees. The
prizes were distributed to the winners: Subhashini & Shruthi R.J (carroms);
Manjula & Padma (musical chair); Prof. Neethu & Chaitra (singing); Manjula
&
Anitha and Dr. Nila chotai & Mrs. Latha; Dr. Malini & Chaitra, & Dr. Sheetal
&
Prof. Harshitha (cooking); Prof. Suchitra & Mrs. Latha (mehandi); Vidhya &
Maheswari, Yogitha & Sonia, Madhavi & Varalakshmi ; Jhansi & Gayathri.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Kavitha S, President; Dr. Soma Chaki, HOD Of Bio Technology; Dr. Malini,
HOD Genetics; Prof. Neetu Sharma; Prof. Suchitra; Mrs. Ramya Sheshadri, HR Executive and student coordinators
includes Vilasita, Blessy, Vaishnavi, Arushi, & Laya.
ENVIRONMENT DAY
On June 5th,ABBS ceebrated World Environment Day (WED) on a theme “We Pledge to go
Green” in association with Ritu Foundation.Tree planting events too place at ABBS campus by our
guests Dr. Balaveera Reddy, Former Vice-chancellor of VTU and Dr. D.Vasudeva Naidu, HR
Professional along with our Dean acedemics Dr. M. Mahishi and Director Dr. H. R. Venkatesha.
ABBS encouraged the students coordinators to conduct the programme successfully.

On 21st March 2014, a two day annual atheletic meet and intra house
cricket tournament was inaugurated by Dean Academics Dr. M. Mahishi
and Dr. H. R. Venkatesha, Director Management studies at physical education grounds of Bangalore University, Janana Bharti. Day 1 was assigned for atheletic events and Day 2 for intra house cricket tournament.
Blue House won the final cricket match and Green House won the Runner –up. The prize distribution was held on April 12th 2014. ABBS congratulates the winner’s and runner’s of the sports event.
BUSINESS STANDARD QUIZ
ABBS Library & Information Centre has organized “Business
Standard Quiz” competion on 14th June, 2014. It was conducted by Business Standard Ltd. in which around 200 students participated and made event successful. The event took
place at amphitheater and coordinated by Mr. S Jairaj
Hosamani, Prof. LRS Mani, Prof. Kamini Dhruva and other
Staff Members in the gracious presence of our director Dr. H R
Venkatesha. The questions were distributed among the students with duration of 45 minutes. The Winner was Jaideep
Khanna, First runner-up Sreejith and Second runner-up Arun
C P. The Winner and Runner-ups were flattered by medal and
certificate respectively.

ABBS was in the media on various occasions during this semester. ABBS was
featured in events like ARMAGEDDON-The Reality Show, BIZOMANIA
2014 and GRADUATION DAY.
