2014 Kern Lipid Conference
Evolving Concepts of HDL Function in Cardiometabolic Diseases and Beyond
Vail, Colorado, August 4 - 7, 2014 ● Vail Marriott Mountain Resort
Conference Co-Chairs: John Parks, Ph.D., Sudha Biddinger, M.D., Ph.D., Richard Gregg, M.D.
Decades of animal and human studies have demonstrated that high levels of high density lipoproteins (HDL) are associated with
decreased risk for atherosclerotic vascular disease and that HDL augments reverse cholesterol transport. However, efforts to reduce
cardiovascular disease by raising HDL concentrations have failed so far. At the 2014 Kern Lipid Conference, leading scientists will present cutting edge research in the areas of cellular HDL and cholesterol metabolism, in vivo HDL metabolism, HDL therapeutic strategies,
genetic regulation of HDL, and emerging new protective roles for HDL in chronic diseases. This highly interactive meeting will foster
discussion between academic and industrial scientists on novel roles and strategies for HDL as a therapeutic agent.
Registration
Complete program information and on-line registration is available at www.kernconference.org. Attendance at the conference is limited to 150
participants and a waiting list will be implemented once maximum capacity has been reached. Early application is advised. Breakfast will be
provided during morning sessions. Lunches, evening poster session reception, and reception dinner are also included in the registration fee.
