The personnel may verify the status of each insulation
monitoring device and any alarm signaling in real time.
It includes software which allows for very simple installation: no
programming is necessary.
The display allows visualizing:
-
-
General page: it is possible immediately understand whether the system of each facility is
functioning correctly or if, instead, it is suffering anomalies or damages.
Measures page: summarizes in a single screen the real time, threshold measures (resistance,
impedance, temperature of the transformer primary and secondary, current) and the alarm RMS-12
(low insulation; surpassed programmed threshold alarm)
Alarm page: summarizes in a single screen the alarm RMS-12 presents (resistance, impedance, as
well as any over temperature of the transformer primary and secondary and over current)
Language page: it is possible to configure the device language: Italian, English, Spanish.
Configuration page: it is possible to configure the system to be monitored (communication
parameters, language)

Remote Monitoring System
Technical features
The RMS-12 remote alarm indicator is used for:


Indication and visualization of operating status and alarm messages
Displaying measured values for monitoring Contrel HRI-R40 insulation’s supervisors with Modbus protocol.
The RMS-12 is available for flush mounting.
Function
On its backlight display, the RSM-12 shows alarm messages and values parameters from all HRI-R40 devices
connected on the network. In the event of an alarm message, the red alarm LED lights up and the message appears
on the LCD display in plain text format. At the same time, there is an audible signal to distinguish alarm RMS-12.
The RMS-12 can be used as a master device in all HRI-R40 networks.
Display / Operating elements
The RMS-12 LCD display features graphics characters. It supplies medical and technical personnel with information
that is always clear and unambiguous, in order to help them to make decisions. Every alarm message appears
spontaneously and additional alarm RMS-12 can be displayed at the touch of a button. Another additional line
contains status information, such as number of messages or menu information.
One LED is located below the LCD display which allow to distinguish between normal (no alarm RMS-12) and alarm
messages.
Four large buttons are available for operating the RMS-12. These buttons provide the following functions:



Scrolling alarm texts and messages
Scrolling measured values of all HRI-R40 devices
Enter into menu parameters setting
Applications



indication and visualization of operating status and alarm messages
central network status visualization of HRI-R40 devices
displaying measured values of response values for monitoring purpose

Functions
The internal Ethernet interface can be used for communication, visualization and management. Flexible meter
polling rules and customizable reading history storage.
Integrated reporting and a data querying for reading data. Manual export of alarm history or measured values into
CSV formats. RMS-12 are directly supported standard communication protocols (Modbus-TCP, FTP, SMTP).
Device installations are operated by many people. Allowing one users to access/view/modify devices and resources
(setup, reports…). Restricting a user’s access enabling read-only access to devices or reports.
Reporting is indispensable
Reporting is indispensable for applications and systems with highly develop data processing and analisys capabilities.
It’s simple to build reports. You don’t have to program anything. First, you use the internal Log function to select
the measures that I want to store. Reports are browsed and printed.
• Data coming from hardware devices.
• Reports exported to CSV file.
• Logs selected by custom criteria.
• Reports are downloaded from internal FTP.
• Browse reports by using a PC.
Automatically sending email with report
Contrel ethernet devices send an automatic e-mail with a CSV file. The schedule outgoing value is from every 1 hour
to 48 hours, weekly or monthly. An example of application is to send the report of alarm RMS-12.
Automatic discovery
Device Explorer is the utility to view and manage the devices. TCP-IP communication protocol support discovery
mechanism and thus lets you connect most devices in “plug-and-play” style.
Upload firmware through the network
For Ethernet devices, upgrading firmware is a very simple and convenient process. This operation will take a very
few seconds. Contrel provides a boot loader utility for firmware upgrade.
Operating elements
To access the configuration you must change the IP address of the PC. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the
following manual Troubleshooting section. Open your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, etc. ..) and
go at http://10.0.0.100/index.html
Please enter the correct Username and Password for administrator access and press Login button. It’s possible to
modify the Username and Password in the configuration of the device.

NETWORK SETUP
IP-address: IP address associated to the device.
Netmask: Subnet-mask of the device.
Gateway IP-address: IP address of the gateway associated to the device.
Port Number(0-65534): TCP port number for Modbus communication.
TIME SETUP
Date: specify the date in System Clock in dd/mm/yyyy format.
Time: specify the time in System Clock in hh:mm format.
COMMUNICATION SETUP
Unit ID (01-247): specify the address modbus of the device.
Communication Protocol: specify the communication protocol used.
LOG SETUP

FTP server application. Polling Saving Time: Select the saving time (every minimum 15 seconds to maximum 1 hour
or daily, weekly, monthly) to save the measures periodically. If you select 15 minutes in practice, the device stores
the value on the quarter hour (example: 14:15-14:30-14:45-15:00).

HISTORICAL VIEW
The storage and processing of collected data is carried out by the engine-modbus inside of the device. The monitored
measures are customized by the user. The user can select and store from 1 to 16 parameters between all those from
the device. In this page is indicated the percentage of memory used. You can search in all the values stored.
To save a data table to disk, highlight the CSV link, right-click, and then select "Save Target As." Make sure that
you save the file as a CSV Text Document (rename the extension .html to .csv).
