Use and Issuance of Air Canada e

USE AND ISSUANCE OF AIR CANADA E-TICKETS
1.
E-TICKETS
Effective August 1st, 2014, Air Canada has extended 100% ET functionality for passenger tickets issued in
ARC. Tickets can no longer be issued on neutral paper ticket stock using Air Canada airline accounting
code (AC 014).
The IATA 100% ET mandate is a worldwide initiative to be followed by all countries. Since 2008, all IATA
accredited travel agents using BSP were required to issue electronic tickets.
If a neutral paper ticket is erroneously issued, it will not be accepted for normal travel. You must record the paper
ticket as VOID and issue an ET.
If a carrier chooses to settle directly with an agency, the agency will be able to issue paper tickets using
that particular carrier’s plate and their ticket stock. Air Canada will not provide agencies with its own ticket
stock.
2.
CARRIER IDENTIFICATION PLATES (CIPS)
Air Canada has requested the return of 014 CIPs from all agencies.
3.
GDS PROVIDERS AND PAPER TICKETS
Amadeus, Sabre, Worldspan, Galileo and Apollo have inhibited paper ticketing for all BSP and ARC
countries. All tickets must be issued electronically.
Abacus, Axess, Infini, Topas and Travelsky have also inhibited paper for international points of sale.
If the GDS ET link is down for an extended period of time, you can either:
•
Wait until the link is restored, or
•
Book a new reservation at aircanada.com/agents
4.
AIR CANADA ET ELIGIBLE DESTINATIONS
All Air Canada destinations, online and codeshare, are ET eligible.
5.
INTERLINE E-TICKET (IET) AGREEMENTS ON AIR CANADA
Air Canada has interline agreements with more than 100 carriers.
For a complete list of interline partners, refer to CIC*26/8/XX (XX is the airline code).
Refer to the grid at the end of this document for the list of carriers where IET is possible (subject to
change).
If the itinerary is not covered by an interline agreement, two separate tickets must be issued.
6.
INFANT TICKETING ON INTERLINE JOURNEYS
2014/12/02 3:05 PM. December 2014. Information subject to change without notice.
Although Air Canada has enabled the IET infant functionality for infants with interline partners, it does not
mean that each individual carrier has developed the same functionality. When this functionality is
developed, carriers may then become eligible infant IET partners.
Agencies can process Infant ticketing on eligible IET partners that have not developed infant
functionality as follows:
•
10 or more days prior to departure: via your GDS queue, request an infant fare and provide the
mailing address for the paper ticket to be mailed out. Air Canada Rates will calculate the fare,
confirm the fare to the agency and will contact the agency to request payment for ticket issuance.
•
Within 10 days of departure: via your GDS queue, request an infant fare. Because the travel date
is within 10 days of departure, the customer will need to pick up the infant paper ticket at the
airport. Air Canada Rates will calculate the fare; confirm the fare to the agency.
For a complete list of infant IET partners, refer to CIC*26/8/XX (XX is the airline code). Refer to the grid at
the end of this document for the complete list of IET carriers including where infant IET is possible (subject
to change).
7.
ADDITIONAL COLLECTIONS
The original ticket has to be exchanged for a new ticket, showing the ADCOL amount. If any change fees
apply, reissue the ticket and collect the change fee amount in your exchange mask or format.
8.
PREVIOUSLY ISSUED PAPER TICKETS
Although paper ticket stock has been removed, Air Canada has a contractual obligation to accept
customers who have been issued paper tickets. This applies to both 014 and OAL issued paper tickets.
Please note that ARC (POS USA) 014 paper tickets issued prior to August 1, 2014, will continue to be
accepted at airports for their validity period only.
Passengers holding an MPD/MCO issued by Air Canada Airports or Customer Relations can have it
exchanged for an ET issued by a travel agent. Any additional collection requires credit card or cash form
of payment. Mark paper MPD/MCO coupon as exchanged with notation of new ET number and retain on
file.
9.
EXCHANGE OF PAPER TICKETS
Paper tickets requiring an exchange within validity period must be exchanged for ETs.
If a paper ticket is for a non-ET eligible itinerary, update the booking in your GDS and queue it to
Air Canada Rates for a revised fare quote prior to sending the passenger to the Air Canada ticket counter
for reissue.
10. REFUNDS
Agencies can refund tickets within validity period using the GDS automated refund functionality and retain
the refunded passenger coupons at their office.
2014/12/02 3:05 PM. December 2014. Information subject to change without notice.
11. ISSUANCE OF OPEN SEGMENTS
An agency may issue IET open segments, if eligible; however, Air Canada will not issue tickets on an
agency’s behalf for interline itineraries where open segments are not permitted. It is recommended that
agencies book a segment in order for an ET to be issued.
12. SPLIT PAYMENTS (EXAMPLE: CREDIT CARD AND CASH) AND ET
Air Canada does not allow split form of payment (FOP) using the Air Canada vendor number. Agencies
may process the credit card through their agency vendor account and report the ticket to Air Canada as a
cash sale in compliance with IATA Resolution 890.
13. GROUPS AND IET
Group Bookings for travel on Air Canada (pure Air Canada marketed and operated flights)
.
• Use the Group Claim functionality
• Ticket in your GDS
• To ensure the e-ticket data transfers to the Air Canada PNR, please confirm with your GDS the
number of tickets that can be issued at one time. Some GDSs may have a limit due to message size
issues
Group Bookings that include Interline
•
•
•
Create passive segments and issue tickets in your GDS
Contact Air Canada Group Desk and provide the ticket numbers. Air Canada will contact the other
airline to ensure the PNR has the correct names and e-ticket numbers
You must cancel any passive segments if the live space is cancelled. (For example, if Smith is no
longer travelling, then the passive itinerary for him/her must be cancelled)
14. ROUND THE WORLD FARES (RTW)
Star Alliance RTW fares are ET eligible and limited to a maximum of 16 segments; re-issues must have
the same number of segments or less.
