MATCH REPORTS:
First Team –
Toss: We won the Toss and choose to bowl first
Wycombe House: 59 all out
(Alex 5-29)
Wycombe House: 61-2 in 9.2 overs
(Jalal 45)
Result: Wycombe House won by 8 wk ts
MOM: Alex for tak ing 5!!!
The First Team went down the North Circular again to play Alexandra Park (our bogey team of recent years)
with a relatively young team out this week as there was a few players unavailable and I wanted to give a few
st
players a chance to see what they can offer the First Team going forward. 1 Team rec alls for Dom, Shezy &
long awaited ret urn of MP R… Marcus!! Along with those 3 players a Debut for AB Bhardwaj, who was over
the moon with the call up!!
So we won the toss and stuck Ally Pally in on a dodgy wicket & terrible outfield that looked like they had the
speed bik es on it the night before, it was shocking!
We started extremely well with ball as found the edge in the first over only for Fizz to spill one straight at Jalal
but he decided to dive right across him and drop a simple catch – school boy!!
Tino at the other end was bowling tight lines & myself picking up wkts at the other end! Marcus came on and
was just too quick for the other bats bowling 3 of them & the ball was past it before they knew it & we
bowled them out for 59!!
In comes Jalal & I think he was in a rush to get home as he hit 19 off their first over & eventually ended on 45
of our 60 and AB on debut hit the winning runs!
Alex on his way to a fiver -fer!!!!
AB making his First Team debut!!
Own up – who took Tino’s tea?? Haha!!
Jalal with another brisk 45!!
Second Team –
Toss: Osterley won the toss
Wycombe House: 185 all out in 51 overs
(Hussain 53)
Osterley: 89 all out in 33 overs
(Bilal (sk ip) 8-28)
Result: Win – 10 points!!!
A confident "top of the table Osterley" aft er winning the toss put us into bat with the wicket s lightly damp to
start off on.
Batsman Logan and Bilal H Ch opened the innings, which started off very slowly with a quick wicket lost.
Logan batted very well to see off the new ball and kept composed... With the rest of batsman to follow.
But with Humayune set to get his bating affairs back on track. Scored an impressive fifty, (53) to be precise
in an firework display at the house whic h kept us and the s pectators amused.
E very one chipped in and gained a grand total of 185...
Second Innings:
With spin being the key to unlock the wickets, skipper Bilal M Ch, decided to keep the ol d ball... And work his
magic.
Muneef opened the bowling with Ghaurav... Keeping it tight and hard by to get any runs.
Ghaurav strikes first by bowling out the Osterley sk ipper by his deceiving flight.
Ibrahim "the brick" with his excellent fielding constrained runs further more, by applying pressure giving
Ghaurav confidence by which he squeezed in another wicket.
Muneef hymning songs for Logan and Haras to figure out what song was being hy mned got the batsman
singing.
Before no time Bilal M Ch, came into the attack and bowled like a DJ, spinning it miles. With spin being the
magic needed to spice things up... Bilal M Ch took 8 wickets... In quick rapid fire style.
Wycombe Hous e star Yayha Khan came in to replace Haras as he got injured, bringing his antics to the field
making it a memorable match.
With the 1st XI, 3rd XI A ND 4th XI... Watching and supporting us as we won. It appeared to be a great day
for the house.
Result: 10 points
Let's carry on with this form lads !!
Hussain on hi s way to his 50….
Third Team –
WHCC 3s v/ s Indian Gymkhana
Toss: IGK won the toss and chose to Bat first
Indian Gym: 34 all out in 13.4 Overs
WHCC: 35-2 in 7 overs
Result: WHCC won by 8 wickets
MOM: Yahy a Khan for 5 wickets
Venue: Boston Manor
Report: Not much to write apart from one of the most fantastic, convincing, brutal, lethal and devastating
performance by the WHCC 3rd XI. Coming into the game, we were top of the league and a win against arch
rivals Indian Gymkhana would have assured that the WHCC 3s stay at the top.
E verything went wrong for IGK from the start, when they won the toss and to the surprise and delight of all
the WHCC 3s boys decided to Bat in cloudy and overcast conditions. The pitch was wet and perfect bowling
conditions were handed out to the pace battery of Yahya Khan and Vasi Sheikh. Yahya struck from the 1st
ball of the innings when he dismantled the leg stump of the IGK opener. The number 3 bat survi ved 2 balls
before Yahya delivered another lethal inswinger which came in from 6th stump to take the off. The look on
the face of the batsmen just said it all. All the other batsmen who walked in were in tremors, as Vasi
continued to bowl immaculate line and length and wickets kept on falling from both ends. The captain Harry
Singh was done by a Yahya Khan short ball, while Vasi was cleaning up the other end. In the end the entire
IGK team was dismantled for 34 in less than 14 overs.
No teas taken as they hadn't arrived yet, and WHCC boys went in to chase down the low total. Janaka and
Sehmbi were out early and Ash Vyas was retired not out due to a poor LBW decision given by the umpire
which was later overturned by the opposition skipper and bowler (a sign of good gesture). Vasi and Adnaan
Haq ensured no more wickets fell and finished the job in around 8 overs.
WHCC 3s stay on top and a massive game ahead this week against 2nd in the league Perivale. A win
against Perivale would all but ensure promotion for the 3rd XI. Wish them all the very best!!!
We have a new candidate for Juggler of the year!!
And our very own Jay Z wannabe….!!
Threes boys on the verge of another win……..
th
4 Team –
4's won the toss & Azfar and Manu opened the batting and kept the partnership for a few overs with Manu
playing very well scoring 94 wit h some proper sensible batting.
Usman headed to crease and played brilliantly for his first hundred playing some great cricket shots all
around the ground & out the ground then declared after reaching a well deserved 100...
Blake, Aman and Larib also cont ributed to the runs to a great total of 300 To the final score
Ash and ashen opened the bowling keeping the keeping the score run tight...fielding was tight and bowl ers
who collected wickets ash, Larib and others, watch out for Larib guys, one for the future!!
Well done to Usman for scoring hi s first hundred in only his third game for the club!
Sunday 1’s:
WHCC v/ s Stallions
Venue: Old Lyonians CC (League Game)
Toss: WHCC won the toss and chose to field first
Stallions: 154 all out in 31.4 Overs
WHCC: 155-4 in 31.3 Overs
Result: WHCC won by 6 wickets
MOM: Dilesh Perera 94*
Report: After the Super Saturday which saw all the 4 teams win, the Sunday 1st XI arrived in Harrow, Old
Lyonians Cricket Ground to play their league must win fixture against Stallions. Both teams fighting
relegation meant its going to be a tight and a exciting fixture. WHCC won the toss and put the opposition in
under wet and cloudy conditions. Saturday 3s bowling pair, Yahya and Vasi took the new ball but the
Stallions openers defended them well. The first wicket fell in the 10 over courtesy of a very good catch by
Vasi off Y ahya's bowling. Dilesh and Bilal were brought in to take the pace off the bowl and make some
inroads in their middle order. Dilesh and Bilal both were successful in taking wickets. Special mention to
Hashim Malik who held onto a fantastic catch at square leg of Bilal's bowling. Hashim and Blake were asked
to finish the innings off with the ball. Both bowled well and in good areas, however gave away a few
boundaries as the batsmen were on the charge due to the final few overs left in their innings. Stallions
finished on 154 in their 32 overs. (Game was reduced to 32 overs a side due to wet pitch and morning
showers)
After a long tea break, the WHCC openers AB and Logan went in to chase down a tricky 5 run per over
target of 155. Logan was out caught behind in the very first over, and Lotia went in at number 3. He hit a
couple of good shots before trying a shot too many and was out stumped. Vasi came in at 4 and was clean
bowled first ball as well. Score 18-3, the opposition on top and in comes Dilesh Perera to bat at number 5.
The boy is in a league of its own when it comes to batting. From the word go, he was on the char ge and
looked at ease. Hitting boundaries and big sixes at will, the boy was cruising to the target. Some of the shots
were not only cheered by all in the WHCC camp, but also by the opposition bowlers and fielders. Him and
AB had a partnership of 112, when AB finally was out bowled for 30, and the team score on 130 -4 and well
on their way for a good win and avoiding relegation. AB Innings of 30 just showed the character of the guy
who fought hard and stayed on with Dilesh. Provided a perfect foil to Dilesh and allowed him to play freely.
Kept rotating the strike and made sure no more wickets fall after the early setbacks. Well done to AB for a
very solid knock. Yahya Khan joined Dilesh and he helped himself for a massive six as well. 13 needed off
12 balls, and Dilesh finishes off with a 6,4 and 4. Game over and WHCC Sunday team avoid relegation. Well
done to all the Sunday boys for the support, effort and determination. This Win summed up a fantastic
week end for WHCC with wins for the Saturday 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th teams and Sunday 1st as well. Bring on
next weekend!
Sunday 2’s v Chesham
After a rainy start to the day, a delayed game between the mighty house v Chesham began. Winning the
toss again and electing to bat, I sent out a strong two opening bats in Armaan and Alex. Two balls later Alex
Thamby was back in the pavilion for his first TFC in a long time.
The score wasn't looking good with Silvie and Marc us falling as well.
So in comes Sukh one of house young talents and with Armaan on one end Sukh on the other the right left
hand combo was working beautifully with Armaan scoring 54 and Sukh with 46 taking our score to look more
respectable.
The rest of the players including Ashim Hamza and young Harris ( on his senior debut) batting well to get
score of 152.
Ches hama target - 152
So on we went to bowl with Ash and Hamza starting, both bowling some absolute beauties. Hamza got the
first wicket with an absolute peach of a ball swinging in to bamboozle the batsman.
Ash also picked a wicket with a perfectly pitched bowl which stated straight and got the batsman for LB.
The captain then felt a changes were needed brought on the youngster Loraib who bowled a master class
spell of leg spin which even the like if the great Shane Warne would have been proud off.
Loraib and Ashim both bowling held the runs with wickets falling for both bowlers.
At this time in the game Wycombe house got slightly complacent and overconfident which resulted in me
having to bring on Marcus and Alex to try and stop the runs however it proved to be unsuccessful with a
county player on their dude scoring a quick 54* to win the opposition the match.
MOM - Armaan, Sukh & Loraib
Armaan made a quality 50
Haras making his Debut for WHCC Sunday 11
