The Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway and the Capital Region Maritime Center will be holding the
Mohawk Gateway Canal Fest on Saturday, August 9 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Maritime Center
which is located on the banks of the River at 901 Maritime Drive, Alplaus (Town of Glenville), NY.
This Mohawk Gateway Canal Fest is part of the statewide Canal Splash, a series of canalside festivals
and events to celebrate the history, culture, and recreational appeal of the NYS Canal System occurring
throughout New York State. It brings this event to the Capital Region for the first time, and will include a
farmer’s market, music, boat rides on the Mohawk River aboard the Caldwell-Belle, a paddling event,
food and craft vendors, music, workshops, alternative fuel boats demonstrations, self guided cell phonebased tour, and lots more entertainment for the whole family – rain or shine.
