NEW TITLE INFORMATION Monografías A DOMUS Ficción y mundo doméstico en el Barroco español NOELIA S. CIRNIGLIARO Domus studies the representation of the urban noble house in 17th-century Spanish short novels and plays. Domus delves into the 17th-century Spanish plays and short novels that emerged in conjunction with early modern forms of domesticity in Spanish cities. The book interprets the act of dwelling in the houses of the urban nobility through the lens of architecture and home décor, gender relations, the domestic economy, and the use of objects, light and space. It focuses on historical vectors that transformed both the early modern home and the creative imagination of Baroque authors. The book suggests that urban comedias, short plays and courtly novels exemplify how dwellings became a central theme in 17th century dramas and narratives as the baroque house was culturally conceived as a stage for domesticity. NOELIA S. CIRNIGLIARO is an assistant professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Dartmouth College. 03/2015 BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS Sterling c.£60.00(s), US dollar $95.00 October 2015, 978 1 85566 293 3 9 b/w illus; 192 pp; 23.4 x 15.6 cm, HB All prices and details are approximate UK AND REST OF WORLD Bridge Farm Business Park, Top Street, Martlesham, Suffolk IP12 4RB, UK T +44(0)1394 610600 F +44(0)1394 610316 [email protected] www.boydellandbrewer. com BIC CODES DSB 1DSE 2ADS 3J MARKET Hispanic Studies NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA 668 Mt Hope Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620 USA T +1 585 275 0419 F +1 585 271 8778 [email protected] www.boydellandbrewer.com CONTENTS Introducción Casas a la malicia y casas de aposento Casas famosas y casas de pisos en el teatro breve madrileño Casas de alquiler y casas principales en la comedia de Tirso de Molina Casas lóbregas en la novela de María de Zayas Casas de muñecas en la comedia de Cubillo de Aragón Casas de(l) placer en la novela de Salas Barbadillo Coda.
