Industrial Tour at Institute of Plasma Research

Industrial Tour at Institute of Plasma Research- Gandhinagar
Robotics Club under the banner of Mechanical Engineering Department, School of
Engineering, RK University organised one day Industrial Tour for student of Robotics Club at
Institute of Plasma Research Gandhinagar on 16th of April 2014 under the supervision of
Prof. Amisha D. Vadaliya, Prof. Jignesh D. Lakhani and Prof. Ratnadeepsinh Jadeja. Main
effort to organise this tour was taken by
Prof. Kartik D. Kothari, Head of Mechanical
Engineering Department. Total 62 students were benefited by this tour including M.Tech
Machine Design & Thermal Science and B.Tech 8th sem & 6th sem of Mechanical
Engineering Department.
Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) is an autonomous physics research institute located at
Bhat Village, Ganghinagar. The Institute for Plasma Research is a premier scientific institute
under the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India devoted to research and
development activities in the areas of Basic Plasma Physics, Magnetic Confinement fusion
and Industrial applications of plasmas. It is a large and leading plasma physics organization
in India.
The main purpose of the tour at IPR for the students of Robotics Club was to visit and aware
about the autonomous field of robotics, as the IPR is an autonomous institute and it is
exclusively devoted to basic research in plasma science and development of technological
applications and specifically our four students of M.Tech are pursuing their dissertation
projects at IPR.
At main IPR centre students were guided by Dr. N. Rajan Babu and Dr. Jyoti Arawal. They
alongwith our M.Tech students demonstrated all the research work ongoing in high
temperature magnetically confined plasmas including the two main giant machines called
“Tokomak Aditya” and “SST-1”. Dr. Ranjana Gangradey is head of the CPP-Vidhata Lab
(one of the Extension Lab of IPR) had taken seminar on purpose of the research work and
demonstrated all the research work which are ongoing under her guidance.
We are thankful to Dr. C.D. Sankhavara Sir and Prof. Kartik Kothari for motivating us and
guiding us in each and every aspect.
