High sugar variety. Exceptionally high yields under simulated grazing
management. Good persistency and Winter hardy.
Very successful and prostrate growing variety. Very dense and high
performing, especially useful for long term grazing. Good overall
persistence
High yielding, late heading variety. Good persistency, Winter hardy
and good ground cover. Excellent disease resistance.
High yielding variety for grazing and conservation. Excellent summer
production, very persistent and exceptional Crown Rust resistance.
Good ground cover.
High yielding under both grazing and conservation regimes, excellent
Crown Rust resistance, good ground cover.
Good grazing variety, high yields throughout the growing season.
Excellent conservation yields. Very high `D` values 1st, 2nd and 3rd
cuts. Above average ground cover, winter hardy and excellent disease
resistance.
Excellent all round quality grass. Very high yields. Excellent Crown
Rust resistance. Very palatable when grazed and can help to bring in
huge amounts of quality silage. A variety used widely across Europe.
Quality grazing and conservation variety. Early Spring growth and
excellent Summer growth. High in sugar with good digestibility.
Good Winter hardiness and persistent.
Meadow Fescue
Pradus
Minto
Sigmund
Late maturing variety giving superior quality and high yields.
Excellent winter hardiness, forms a denser sward than other traditional
varieties. Like all Meadow Fescue, this variety excels under cool moist
soils and also tolerates hot dry conditions. Offers good palatability due
to good disease resistance.
Very popular variety across Europe as an ORGANIC variety, due to
its high yield and good protein levels in low input system. Like all
Meadow Fescue, this variety excels under cool moist soils and also
tolerates hot dry conditions, offers good palatability due to good
disease resistance.
Very persistent grass, very Winter hardy. Will grow in cooler
temperatures. Early Spring growth, suitable for grazing or cutting.
Prefers moist ground.

Grass, Forage, Environmental Stewardship, Organic & Amenity
Timothy
Alma
Climax
Comer
Glacier
Ragnar
Above average yields with excellent palatability and disease
resistance. Very flexible variety and will grow in a range of soil types,
preferring damp soils.
Intermediate type, 7-10 days later than the earlier varieties. High
palatability and very persistent. High yield.
The yield standard of Comer compares to the yield of perennial
ryegrass. Excellent quality, good tolerance to grazing. Persistent and
Winter hardy. Upright growth, so it does not out-compete slower
growing grasses. Acts as a sweetener to all management regimes.
Early Maturity. Exceptional yield and re-growth, 3-4 harvestable cuts
per year. This variety has the ability to persist under more intensive
cutting.
Excellent yield, very persistent under grazing and conservation.
White Clover
Grasslands Tribute
Merwi
Crusader
Barblanca
Alice
Good Spring growth and very persistent, produces good yields in
Autumn. Good dual purpose variety.
Production variety suits light defoliation. White clover has higher
protein than grass.
Good total clover yield in second harvest year including very high
Autumn clover yields. Excellent total clover yields in third harvest
year. Good Autumn ground cover.
Excellent Autumn clover yields in both the second and third harvest
year, good ground cover. Large leafed varieties are used for cutting
and generally provides higher yields.
Good Spring yields, excellent Spring & Autumn ground cover. Good
under hard defoliation.
Red Clover
Manuela
Merviot
Merian
Oldenwalder
Taller variety of red Clover with excellent green matter yield. Has
high regrowth intensity, good leaf/stem ratio. High crude protein
Above average protein content, good ground cover, generally only
three years persistence, red clovers suit short term cutting or dual
purpose leys.
A natural successor to Merviot, which has been popular throughout
Europe for more than 40 years. Merian has better persistence than
Merviot with a growth habit that is more branching. Very high yield
potential and competitive in grass ley mixtures.
Good cutting yields. Red clover swards can fix up to 200Kg/Ha of
nitrogen.

Maize
Maize needs to be grown in an area where it will
get sufficient heat units to mature. South facing
fields with warm soils are favourable. Aim for a
ph. of 6.2 –6.5. Sow when the soil temperature
has reached at least 6°C. Weeds are a major
problem and need constant monitoring and
treatment applied. Sowing usually starts
around Mid-April until Mid-May. Seed rates
vary according to the variety but need to be
planted at a depth of about 2 inches into
moist ground. Sufficient fertiliser should be
applied, FYM, MAP or DAP and follow up
applications of N should be considered.

Lucerne
Lucerne is a high protein crop which will produce up to 4 cuts a year for a duration of 5
years. The crop has deep tap roots which will search out moisture. This crop is well suited to
sandy or other free draining soil types. Optimum ph. range is 6.2 –7.8.
Sown from April—Mid August. Seed Rate 8Kgs/Acre.

Arable Silage Mixtures
Lupin/Triticale Avon Mix
This mixture is well tried and tested, using a White Lupin. Sow in late March-Early May.
Harvest in late August as a wholecrop. High yields of fresh material, 14-19 tonnes per acre, can
be expected. DM 25-30% D Value 70+, ME 11.0-12.0, Crude Protein 13-17% and Starch 20+%.
Low inputs and good tolerance to pest and disease make this crop food for thought. The crop
can be under sown with a grass mixture, but seed rates of the Avon Mix would need to be
reduced.
38 Kgs Dieta Lupin
37 Kgs Logo Spring Triticale.
75 Kgs / Acre
Pulse/Cereal Mixes
Mixtures of cereals (starch) and peas (protein) can produce high yields of well-balanced quality
forage. Arable silage can typically produce 12-15 tonnes of fresh material per acre and be ready
to cut in 13-15 weeks from sowing. Sown in March it can be fed as fresh cut material in MidSummer, ensiled or bagged for Winter feed.
