FlexStream™ HG
Humidification Module
Description
The FlexStream™ HG is used in the FlexStream™ Gas
Standards Generating System to add humidity to the trace
concentration gas mixture. However, the technique for adding
the moisture is critical if the integrity of the mixture is to be
maintained. If it is bubbled through water, or even contacts the
liquid surface its concentration may be changed by loss of analyte to the water.
Operation
The FlexStream™ HG has five modes of operation; Offline, Standby, Zero, Span, and Purge, which are
controlled through the microprocessor subsystem on the Base Module. If an installed HG is in the ‘Offline’ mode
the FlexStream™ System ignores its presence. In the ‘Standby’ it ready to use at any time, but but still being
ignored by the System. ‘Zero’ adds humidity to the diluent before the addition of the trace analytes. This mode
is essential in establishing true zero and for standard additions calibrations. The ‘Span’ mode produces humidified,
trace concentration gas standards. The ‘Purge’ mode is used to system clean-up between applications.
To assure accuracy of delivery the HG uses an external humidity sensor installed at the point of use for its control
signal.
