Roughhouse Biography In 1974 Keith „Roughhouse“ Powell was literally born into music in the jamaican parish Manchester. While he was raising up, his father Keith Powell Senior played guitar for legends like Peter Tosh or Dennis Brown, performing in big concert halls like the Madison Square Garden in New York. Roughhouse could’nt escape from the musical magic in that Ome and decided to follow his desOny emphaOcally. In the following years Roughhouse has taught himself to play bass and guitar. Because of his great talent he developed his abiliOes very quickly and started to work together with arOsts like Tarrus Riley, Junior Kelly, Ken Booth, President Brown, Culture Knox, GarneT Silk or U-‐Brown in the studio or by accompany them on tour. In 2000 Roughhouse came to Germany and linked up with arOsts like Patrice for producOons on his album „Ancient Spirit“. From that collaboraOon onwards Roughhouse has been playing bass for many more acts from Germany like D-‐Flame („Unau\altsam“, 2003), Uwe Banton („Jah Roots“, 2006), Nosliw („MiTendrin“, 2007), Gentleman („Another Intensity“, 2007), Samy Deluxe („TNT, 2008 / „Dis wo ich herkomm“, 2009 / „Bis die Sonne rauskommt“, 2009 / „Dis wo ich herkomm LIVE“, 2010 / „Schwarzweiss“, 2011), Max Herre („Max Herre“, 2009), Die FantasOschen Vier („Vier“, 2009) and many more. Because of his great talent in bass playing a lot of famous arOsts like Andru Donalds hired Roughhouse to go on tour on with them. By accpeOng such offers Roughhouse aquired a lot of naOonal and inernaOonal live experience while playing big live shows like Summer Jam, Chiemsee Reggae, Splash Hip-‐Hop-‐FesOval, Rock am Ring, Rock am Park and many more famous events in Europe. Roughhouse’s development peaked in 2009 with becoming the musical director and band leader („Tsunami Band“) for Germany top Hip-‐Hop star Samy Deluxe. Together they toured through Germany, Switzerland, Austria and played on big fesOvals. Roughhouse is far more than just a highly talented bass player or creaOve producer. In the course of the years he also improved his singing talents by being the lead singer from the band „RhaaOd“. Together with Pomez di Lorenzo, one of the most successful producers from Germany (Young Deenay, Sasha, etc.) and guitar player from the band, Roughhouse has wriTen and produced the songs for the successful debut album „RhaaOd“ (2009). With RhaaOd Rock and Reggae music melted together in a powerful way to a whole new style, which also was a role model for a lot of other bands. Since 2005 Roughhouse has also been working successfully on his solo career. In 2006 he has released his long expected debut album „My IntenOon“. On 18 top-‐produced tracks Roughhouse is showing his versaOlity of styles and topics to sing about. He also got supported by his friends Gentleman and Patrice with great features on the songs „R.I.P. Babylon“ and „For my love“. For the Single "Back Together again" Roughhouse shooted a nice Video in Dortmund. In 2012 Roughhouse released his masterpiece "Love Divine". The album is absolutely Omeless and like the famous german Rapper Curse said "beauOful music". In contrast to "My IntenOon" Roughhouse is singing more emoOonal, what brings out a high range of feelings to the audience. But there are also songs like the single "Nice up di dance" which is bringing people to moving just aker a few seconds. A lot of friends like Peter Fox, Max Herre, Curse, Gentleman and many more congratulated Roughhouse to that great album. In 2013 Roughhouse became one of the CEOs of the independent recordlabel „MPerium Records“, under which he and the founder Michael Peukert alias „Mic.Royal“ are releasing Hip-‐Hop/Rap-‐, Reggae-‐, AccousOc-‐ and Popmusic. For January 2015 the simultaneous release of two new albums from Roughhouse „Take a look“ (AccousOc) and „Peace & InspiraOon“ (Reggae) are planned as well as the partysingle „One jacket“ feat. Mic.Royal. In 2014 Roughhouse did several producOons on "New Day dawn" from his old friend Gentleman. The album stayed in the german Top Ten for fikeen weeks. Aker that Roughhouse produced the album "Soulrap" from the german Hip-‐Hop arOst Mic.Royal together with some of his musical companions (Rudy ValenOno, Philip Lütz, Johannes Bödecker, Frederik Schäfer, Mert Tekin etc.). The producOon led to a close friendship and also a business cooperaOon. Roughhouse became one of the CEOs of the independent recordlabel „MPerium Records“, under which he and the founder Mic.Royal are releasing Hip-‐Hop/Rap-‐, Reggae-‐, AccousOc-‐ and Popmusic. For 2015 the releases of his first acousOc album "Take a look" and his third and maybe most personal Reggae album „Peace & InspiraOon“ are announced.
