CROSS COUNTRY 2014
On Thursday, 4 April 2014, the MCC Cross Country competition was held at King George Park Leichhardt.
Runners competed in events covering distances of 3kms for the U12s and U13s, 4kms for the U14s and U15s, 6kms for the
U16s and 8kms for the Opens. Each school had five runners per age group, with all runners receiving points for their finishing
position. Hence the fifth placed runner’s position was just as important as the first.
The day started well with great results in the Opens. All our runners finished in the top fifteen, a great effort considering there
are 40 in the race! The U14s were outstanding also, with all runners finishing in the top twelve! The U15s and U16s ran well,
contributing good points for MCK. We struggled a little in the younger age groups, but with improved attendance at
training next year, this can be amended.
MCK finished in 3rd position with 787 points, only 28 points behind the winning school. Thanks to all students involved for
their efforts, and also to the many parents who were there to support both their sons and the College. Congratulations to the
students (listed below) who finished in the first six positions, and will now represent MCC at the CCC Cross Country to be held
at Eastern Creek on 13 June.
