Jon maintains a varied commercial litigation practice with an emphasis on complex litigation, including class action defence. He has participated in proceedings at all levels of courts, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Jon's main area of focus is Canadian competition law, with involvement in a number of price fixing and misleading advertising class actions, criminal matters and other litigation involving the Canadian Competition Act. He also advises businesses responding to cartel investigations under the Competition Act. Jon has been involved in litigation in a number of practice areas, including constitutional, environmental, energy, intellectual property, shareholder, contract, professional negligence and defamation. In addition to his litigation practice, Jon regularly advises clients regarding compliance with competition, foreign investment and other regulatory legislation in support of clients' Canadian business activities. In the context of mergers, Jon has assisted companies from various industries in obtaining regulatory approval from the Competition Bureau, Transport Canada, and Heritage Canada.
