Title and Abstract Submission for oral paper and poster presentations is available after December 20th on the Academy web site – http://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org. All titles and abstracts must be SUBMITTED ONLINE BY February 10, 2014. At least one author of a paper or poster presentation must be a member of the Academy. Please see http://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org/paydues.php. So, complete the membership application and pay online. Student members may enter their paper and/or poster in the Student Paper and Poster Competition (see Academy web site for requirements), and winners will be announced for each section and receive cash awards at the banquet. Follow the directions given on the site for listing the title, presenter’s name, coauthors, and official title of the institution, company, or organization. This will assure accurate listing of your presentation in the online and hard copies of the program. The online version of the program will be the official version of the program for the annual meeting and should be available on the Academy website two weeks prior to the meeting. Directions concerning poster size requirements can be found on the website. STUDENT GRANTS AND AWARDS All Travel Grant, Research Grant, and the Paper and Poster Competition Awards applications must be done online, http://alabamaacademyofscience.org, and meet all of the posted eligibility requirements. Hard-copy submissions are no longer accepted. You will receive an email confirmation for all applications. If you do not receive email confirmation within one week, please contact the Chair (Brian Burnes, Department of Biology, Univ. of West Alabama, Livingston, AL 35470, [email protected]) as soon as possible. All posted deadlines will be strictly enforced. TRAVEL GRANTS Limited travel grants will be available to student members who otherwise would not be able to attend the Annual Meeting of the Academy. Priority will be given to applications submitted by students who will present a paper and/or poster at the Annual Meeting. Submittal deadline is February 10, 2014 RESEARCH GRANTS Research grants, in amounts usually not exceeding $250, are available for student members’ projects that meet eligibility requirements. Submittal deadline is February 10, 2014 PAPER AND POSTER COMPETITION AWARDS Student members may enter their paper and/or poster in the Paper and Poster Competition. This is accomplished by checking the appropriate box when the paper/poster title is submitted online. Entries must conform to eligibility requirements and the student must be a member of the Academy. The author(s) of the winning papers or posters will be announced and award checks presented at the AAS Annual Banquet.
