Through each talk given on Walk #113, we were reminded that God chose us for His very own. It is nothing we did or could do that would make us worthy of His love for us; He just wants a relationship with us. In our humanness, we see our flaws and remember vividly how we have let others down, disappointed ourselves, and have been told by others in many ways that we are not worthy. This weekend, we heard God speak loud and clear, He has declared us CHOSEN by Him, so much so, that He died for us. We have been claimed, we have been identified with Him, and we have been selected as His very own. That really is what Emmaus is all about. Knowing without any doubt that you belong to the family of God: that you have a place at the table, that you have a purpose, that you have a mission, that you have a Savior. You have a Savior that knows you completely and still without hesitation, chooses you. I am always amazed at how God lavishes love upon us when we are in need. On Walk #113, every need was met. We were blessed by the love and sacrifice of our family, friends, and community. God, as always, was faithful to meet us on our journey and bring us to this new place of love and forgiveness, blessing us with a renewed sense of mission and assured grace. 1 Thessalonians 1:4, “We know, dear sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be His own people.” (Tami Speicher was the Lay Director for the Central Ohio Women’s Emmaus Walk #113.) Please support the pilgrims and attend weekend activities to show your love! Are You a Cookie Baker? To help keep Emmaus brothers and sisters in, and spam out, you will need to register as a new user. Once your registration is approved by Emmaus, you will be able to freely enter the website. Let a board member know if you have any problems. Share Group Challenge Would your share group like to help set up or tear down for the Emmaus weekend? There are three opportunities with every walk: 1. Set up on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm. 2. Tear down the sleeping rooms on Sunday morning at 7:00 am. 3. Tear down the Upper Room on Sunday afternoon at 3:50 pm. Contact Mike Kelleher at [email protected] if you are interested. Mike is also looking for a co-chair to help him with logistics efforts. If you attend Marysville First United Methodist Church, or are familiar with its layout, this would be a perfect position for you! Even if you attend elsewhere, contact Mike if you are interested. Kairos Prison Ministry will be entering North Central Correctional for the 12th time on March 20-23, 2014. The weekends are modeled much like an Emmaus Walk. Many brothers and sisters in the Emmaus communities have helped and even served in the past. The Men on #12 are seeking our support. You can help by signing up on a prayer vigil, baking cookies, or with financial gifts. It takes approximately $7500 to finance the weekend, over 7,000 dozen cookies (yes that’s 84,000 cookies) and most importantly continuous prayer. There are guidelines for making cookies (such as size and shape) which Don Rioux would love to share with you. If you are interested in making cookies, please contact Don at 614-562-1733 or [email protected]. Spread the Word - Come to the Gathering Costs Changing in July If you are attending the Gatherings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, you know how powerful the Holy Spirit fills us. Let your Emmaus friends know how rewarding this service is, and bring them along with you! The registration fee for a pilgrim attending an Emmaus Walk in Central Ohio has been $50 for years. To help with increasing costs, the registration fee will be increasing to $60 beginning with the July 2014 walk. Please be sure to replace your applications with new ones showing the correct amount before giving an application to someone you are inviting to Emmaus.
