Local 19’s members
working at the Frito-Lay
distribution center voted
to accept a new 3 year
contract on October 31,
2013. Highlighting the
new agreement were
wage increases totaling
80¢ per hour and back
pay of approximately
$200.00 for all employees
hired after May of 1999
and bonuses totaling
$2,400.00 for those hired
prior to the same date.
In addition, contract
classification rates were
increased along with
work leader pay.
Local 19 Supports Locked Out
Kellogg’s Cereal Workers
On October 22nd over 220 workers were locked out
of their jobs by the Kellogg Company at its cereal
production facility in Memphis, Tennessee.
The workers who are Union members of Local
252G were displaced by Kellogg’s in an attempt to
ignore a master agreement that was negotiated by
the parties in 2012. This outrageous action taken
by this 14 billion dollar multinational corporation
is a direct attack against Kellogg’s dedicated and
skilled workforce whose average seniority exceeds
20 years of service with the company. Kellogg’s goal
is to replace these workers and their steady, middle
class full-time jobs with casual part-time employees
who would earn at least $6.00 per hour less than
the current Memphis workforce earns.
BCTGM Local 252G has established a “Hardship Fund” to provide help to their members, and our
International Union has responded with a $25,000.00 contribution in addition to making a $100.00
donation for each Local 252G member at Thanksgiving.
BCTGM members from all over the country have rallied to the side of our brothers and sisters in Memphis
with contributions of food and money along with strong statements of unity for these locked out members.
Local 19 has made a donation of $1,000.00 toward this very deserving cause and is encouraging our
members to help in any way they can.
see page 2 for additional information
The BCTGM International Union organized a march in conjunction with the
Martin Luther King National Holiday Parade in Memphis, Tennessee on January
20, 2014. Representatives of Local 19 joined in support with the brothers
and sisters of other BCTGM Locals as well as the officers and members of
various unions from all over the country. They marched side by side with
BCTGM members of Local 252G who were locked out of their jobs by the
Kellogg’s Company at its cereal production facility in Memphis, Tennessee
on October 22, 2013.
Contributions for the locked out Kellogg’s workers can be sent to:

Tell Kellogg’s to END the
L CKOUT
The BCTGM and unions across
North America and the globe
are opposing Kellogg’s plans to
restructure its workforce through
the introduction of their “new
workforce of the future.”
This new structure ensures that all new hires will
receive far less in wages and few, if any benefits.
DO NOT BE DECIEVED by Kellogg’s public
relations spin claiming current employees will not
be affected. If they are successful, it is just a
matter of time before they begin to use this new
strategy as a tool to drive down your standard
of living.
As part of its plan, Kellogg has already locked
out BCTGM Local 252G members from their
plant in Memphis, Tenn. and CLOSED the
London, Ontario cereal facility, also putting
BCTGM members at Local 154G out of work.
Together we must prevent them from destroying
the lives and communities of workers who have
given their lives for the company.
Take a minute to send a loud clear message:
It is time to END THE LOCKOUT, ABANDON
THE EXPANSION OF CASUAL JOBS and
NEGOTIATE IN GOOD FAITH!
More than nine thousand supporters worldwide have
signed this petition from the IUF and sent messages to
Kellogg’s CEO John Bryant urging him to end the lockout.

Purina Workers Approve New Contract
Local 19’s members working at Purina Animal Nutrition voted unanimously in favor of a new 4 year
collective bargaining agreement on November 11, 2013. The new contract contains 3 annual 2% wage
increases for all Union members in addition to a first year bonus of $1,000.00. In addition to wages, sick
pay was increased in each year of the agreement and contract language was added in various areas
to better protect the members. The Officers of the Union were very happy to achieve this excellent
settlement for the Purina workers who became Local 19 members in August of 2012, when their former
Local 138G was transferred into our organization.
