Welcome and congratulations!
Congratulations to all students from around
the world who are about to graduate from
University of Liverpool online masters or
doctoral programmes. This is an achievement
to celebrate!
After all your months of study and online
debate with fellow students, you can be proud
of yourself, whether you receive your degree
certificate by post or in person.
Many of you will choose to mark your
achievement by donning a cap and gown and
attending a graduation ceremony in Liverpool.
The information you’ll find in this pack has
been included to help you make the most of
your graduation ceremony and time in the city.
Inside, you will find:

Drop by and share a cup of tea or coffee with your fellow
students, University and Laureate staff at the Hope Street
Hotel. During this event, you’ll have the opportunity to
learn more about the programme of events and your
graduation ceremony. You can also speak with the
University’s Alumni Association and meet some of the
Student Support Managers who helped you through
your studies.
Join the University of Liverpool’s Vice-Chancellor
Professor Sir Howard Newby, and his wife, Lady
Sheila Newby for an evening reception celebrating the
achievements of our online graduates. Drinks, hors
d’oeuvres and musical entertainment will follow formal
speeches and the presentation of the Student and
Dissertation of the Year awards.
The Meet & Greet is free, and family and friends are
welcome to attend. You can drop in at any time between
4.00pm and 7.00pm for a warm drink and a chat.
This event is open to all graduates and up to four friends
and family. We encourage a smart/formal dress code;
national dress is very welcome.
Please note that those wishing to attend this event
should ensure they arrive promptly for 6.00pm, as doors
will close at 6.20pm. There is no cost to attend, but please
RSVP (confirm your attendance via the Registration
link in the email you recently received) to help us cater
accordingly.
Places are limited so RSVP now to secure your
attendance.

The Director of Studies for the University of Liverpool’s
MPH programme, Dr Francine Watkins, invites all MPH
graduands and their guests to join a celebration with
on-campus students and members of the Department
of Public Health and Policy immediately before the
graduation ceremony.
Buffet snacks and soft drinks will be available at the
event.

Graduation Checklist
Before you arrive in Liverpool
Please ensure that you have:
Confirmed your intention to graduate
on campus via the University
of Liverpool website: www.liverpool.ac.uk/graduation/planning
The deadline for this was 5 November, so
if you haven’t already taken the above step,
you must contact your Student Support
Manager urgently for assistance. You cannot
gain entrance to the graduation ceremony
to receive your degree certificate unless
you have confirmed your intentions to the
University. Your Student Support Manager
can provide more information if you are
unsure whether you have confirmed or not.
Ordered tickets for your guests to attend
your ceremony: If you have questions
about this, please contact the Graduation
Enquiries team at: [email protected]
Confirmed which events you would like
to attend via the RSVP link emailed to
you recently: A number of our planned
events require those attending to RSVP
(reply to confirm attendance).

Packed the correct clothing to wear under
your cap and gown: We suggest that men
wear dark suits, a white shirt and tie, while
women should wear dark skirts or trousers and
a white or light-coloured blouse. Mortar boards
should be worn throughout the ceremony.
Once you arrive in Liverpool
Remember to:
Pick up your tickets for your
graduation ceremony from the Student
Administration Centre in the Foundation
Building. See map for location.
Pick up your cap and gown on the day of
your ceremony: Please ensure that you pick up
your cap and gown at least two hours prior to
your Graduation Ceremony from Mountford
Hall, Guild of Students. See map for location.
If you have any questions, please contact your
Student Support Manager as soon as possible.
Should you have any questions while you are in
Liverpool, you are welcome to drop in on the
Meet & Greet session or to call in at the Student
Administration Centre in the Foundation
Building where University or Laureate staff will
assist you further. We are here to help ensure
that your graduation is an enjoyable occasion!
